Finished the anime, felt like I just watched some AI who randomly generated an anime show.
What bothers me is how unsatisfying this anime is. It was supposed to be the one that Jun Maeda needed to make me cry again like in AB. Comparing this to Charlotte, I would watch Charlotte any day.
Back in October, I was so ready to cry when this show ends, absolutely bonkers.
The only two good episodes out of the 12 are the first one and the one with Izanami's father.
Well even looking back on it, that episode is kinda f up too, how can Izanami just accept that her dead ... mom is calling her on a phone? Anyway, there are more f up moments in this anime.
The only real good episode is the first one. It was funny and refreshing.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if Jun Maeda "anohana-ed "us in that episode with Hina's father. Nope, they had to toy with the idea that Hina was invisible all this time. It was funny to watch that scene at that moment, but later on, it felt more like a slap in the face.
Also as someone who understands Japanese, I find Youta's sister, Sora's way of speech outright cringy and disturbing, def not "cute." Ending almost every sentence with "-shi" makes it annoying and sometimes it doesn't even make sense. "-shi" is a grammar structure that acts more or less like an informal, but usually found in speech, "because." Now add that to every sentence in English when you speak. I wouldn't mind if they change it to something more appropriate like "-desu" (which on its own doesn't have any meaning)
My only relief from this abomination is from reading some of the "negative but well deserved" reviews across different websites/language.
There's this poor dude on one of the Chinese anime websites who wrote an in-depth analysis of each episode but ultimately gave a score of 1/5
And he titled the review "对不起，我是吃饱了撑的来写了这长达几千字的预测文。" which roughly translates to "I'm sorry, I must've been bored out of my mind when I wrote my thousand word plot prediction article"

Another dude on Anikore who gave 1/5 for the plot says "何を伝えたかったのか不明 ストーリーとキャラクターに目を瞑れば良い作品だと思います。お勧めはしません" which roughly mean "Unclear on what the anime is trying to convey, this is a good anime if you ignore the characters and the story. Will not recommend."

What I cannot fathom is the fact that people actually cried from watching this. How and why. The plot is illogical at best.
I am just gonna accept the fact that Jun Maeda will never top AB ever again.
What a waste of such good casts

3/10 will not watch again. Jun Maeda from this point on means absolutely nothing to me.
