Well just finished watching this series, and wow... just wow! But yeah.. I shall break it down as best as I can and just tell you just why you need to watch this anime....

Story: Well put in short terms I thought the story was amazing, it was one of those storylines that gets you thinking, like pretty deeply, well thats what it did with me, I think its about survival, and I found myself constantly siding with each group of people. But in a way I found it to be a loose-loose situation no matter what happened, and it was just so powerful in how ... it was potrayed (the last few episodes literally left me in awe) it gets you feeling angry, sad, confused! Everything and that for me, shows just how well they have planned out and executed the story so well. Basically two groups of people fighting to survive, at points it was actually hard to watch, and I wondered myself what would I do in the situation and it genuinly leaves you frustrated and in deep thought. Sure there are the odd less exciting filler episodes where not too much goes on, and there a little mundane, but are totally worth watching and getting through, even if its just to get to the last 5-6 episodes because I think those alone made the whole series. But the story had twist, turns, depth, passion, horror and even a tad romance, theres notthing much that I can personally ask for in a storyline.

Art- Well as I've said, I'm easily pleased when it comes to art, I dont think I will ever be too disapointed with what comes on the screen, but I loved the animation in this, very fluid and eyecatching, not exactly the most bright of colours if anything very dull and sad, which fits pefectly with the effect that there going for. So apologies for not being able to expand too much on the art but I thurally enjoyed it and I dont really see any complaints to tell you about, it does its job, and very well. So... if the glove fits.......

Sound: Well this was another gem for me, I shall talk about the opening and ending themes in a second, but I wanted to make a special mention for the background music, especially when used in the last 2-3 episodes, you have no idea the impact it had on me, at one point it gave me chills. It added so much more emotions to some of the scenes it was really very haunting and chilling music to have, and it just brought some of the scenes to live, so top marks for that. As for the opening and ending themes, i must say I preferred the the ones used in the first 12 episodes! I found the first opening to be very haunting and heavy and actually very catchy, I was more impressed however at the first ending sequence, the off key vocals and piano really made it seem very eerie and chilling, whether or not this was intended I dont know, but they semt to pull it off brilliantly. The second set of opening and endings were both for me pretty generic nothing new or special, whilst catchy yes.. didn't really fit with the feel of the series or add anything new, wheras I thought the first two (especially the ending) were quite unique and haunting.

Charaters: Gosh so many characters that I could talk about, but as a whole the characters are very well developed with a wide range of personalities and traits which you learn to love and hate. Ranging from the ditzy 'blonde' (even though her hair is pink) who dreams of getting out of the small village to be star, to the leader/hero type from Toshi, to the wierd yet stangely cute character that is Sunako (one of my personal favourites from the series) it has hard to go into too much detail without rambling on as there are so many characters with so many different roles, all of which I thurally enjoyed watching, all I can say is watch and just see them all unfold, and really come into character! Towards the end you will most likely have your favourites and your most hated, and i hope its not just me but either way you do feel connected, and that is something I havent felt (or at least not this strongly) since watching anime, and this is something that really suprised me how deep you get into it, and just how much you feel for the characters.

Enjoyment: Well, pretty no-brainer really, this to put in simple terms was the anime that I found to be the most enjoyable, yes it was hard to watch at times, and sad, but yet it left me yearning for more (and keeping me up until 4am) it had everything that I have been looking for in anime, and I will certainly be watching the series again at some point.

Overall: Tbh my 9 rating is everybody elses 10, the only reason I have left it one short is just incase another anime comes along that is better (seen as though my list isn't very big atm) and also there was as I've said a few little boring episodes, but apart from that I honestly cannot fault this anime, Ive been sat there honestly trying to come up with the faults but aside from the few episdoes, and the generic opening and ending theme tune in the second half of the series I honestly can't and I dont see any reason why you shouldn't take the time to watch this, because I'd be very suprised if you didn't find it as powerful and as amazing as what most people have found it to be on this site.

Well, having just finished this series, I can actually say that I found this to be a really enjoyable short series (IMO too short but I will mention this as I go through the review)

Story: Well my whole reason for starting the show was because I thought the plot was so unique and instantly grabbed me from the few lines, the idea of somebody being able to know when someone is about to die was an instant appeal, throw in some already dead zombies and I was set. Unfortunately as i stated, the show was only 11 episodes long, and for me that was just ... waaay too short, and as a result left quite a few questions to be answered at the end. An example being that it is never explained why the two male characters have to switch hands in order to summon their weapons, it says WHAT will happen if they dont switch, and WHAT will happen if they didn't switch back. There are many other little plotholes and things that I would like to have been answered but I shant bother you with them all, because tbh if your going to give this series a try (which I think you should) then you will realise what im saying, it is said that this series was originally going to be 20+ episodes... why did it not?! I really think the story could have had so much more depth and so many of these 'unanswered questions' actually answered, and us not craving a second series. But the actualy storyline was great, and I was thurally gripped from beggining to end, I just wish that it had more time to develop and go into detail but I think that was impossible in just 11 episodes, so theres no suprise as to how many plotholes there was.

Art: Well I'm not a big expert an Art, but on this series I really enjoyed the artwork used, I loved the style of the female characters (they were very cute... especially Michiru) the males... I liked, although Chika's hair was mental and spikey as hell! I felt they semt a tad plain and scruffy compared but still nothing too bad, and there personalities and everything else made up for it IMO, I must say i'm easily pleased when it comes to art, I will hardly ever come out and say 'god that art was pathetic' or 'I hated that artwork' but thats just me.

Sound: Well there wasn't much music throughout the episodes (or none that I can really re-call) so if there was, then obviously nothing really spectacular if I can't even remember there being any, as for the opening and end themes. The opening was... neither good nor bad for me, after reading some reviews and everyone saying how bad the screaming was, I was expecting it to be proper death metal screamo style. But it wasn't although yes the man was screaming/shouting, I would not say it was heavy.. If anything I found the scappy guitar to sound a little like libertines but obviously just much heavier vocals. The ending theme.. I actually had to go back to have a couple of listens, which tbh says it all, again.. neither good nor bad, it goes well with the whole them of the series, and nice still shots of the characters and even had a catchy verse. But yeah.. nothing that really stood out for me.

Character: I pretty much liked all the characters.. even the villains, with it only being 11 episodes I found Chika and Shito's relationship to be the most intresting, they were both total....well...... you get the idea, yet at times they semt to really respect each other and come together as a team. But at times they were just hilarious, and I thought they were too very intresting characters (again if more episodes were made, I think they could have been made into even better characters). Michiru played the shy, coy character very well, I especially found her hilarious towards the end, especially the last episodes.. and well her relationship with Koyomo is really quite outstanding, and even though it was fan service stuff, I found more hilarious than anything, and really had me laughing. I also thought there was a couple of useless characters who didn't really bring anything to the series such as Momoka (Chika's younger sister) who.. well did notthing but text on her phone, and also Yuuta who I thought was actually an intresting character whenever she popped up, and I personally would've liked to have seen her in abit more, but unfortunately didn't really think she brought much to the show.

Enjoyment: Thurally enjoyed seeing this series, from the reviews I saw, they were pretty much spot on in that it had a great concept, but unfortunately was let down by there only being 11 episodes, therefore major plotholes etc etc. But nevertheless for what it is, and for what you are given its a great short horror series, with great and likeable characters, an overall very good plot. Also very funny, with it being a horror I expect minimal laughter and gags. But quite a few times I was actually left in stitches from some of the scenes/comments made by characters, and I found that to be a really nice touch seeing as it was something I wasn't really expecting. One thing that I might have wanted to see for more enjoyment was better fight scenes, none of them felt action packed and long enough. Although some of the villains were kinda creepy, they didn't put up much of a fight.

Overall: Unfortunately (without trying to repeat myself over and over which I know I am doing) due to the shortness of the series the story/plot left a lot unanswered and major plotholes revealed, not really giving it time to sink in, and also for some of the characters to develop fully. But on the other hand for what the story is, its a very good idea, and I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Enjoyable characters, humour, zombies. An anime I am not regretting seeing.

Okay, first review on the site, I'm not really one for long essays, and I've only just recently got into anime so apologies if it's not very technical but felt I wanted to pass my view on.

When I first read the summary of the anime I was very excited, the plot semt really intresting and just the type of anime that I was looking for. It was also a short series therefore I completed it within 24 hours (barely) the opening couple of Shigofumi were really good, very nice. Kept me intrested until 3am in the morning and that is a task all on its ... own. But when I came back to it the next day (very excited may I add) I was sadly dissapointed....

I felt the episodes were hit and miss, some were actually quite powerful and moving, and as people have said already dealing with very touchy subjects, it was like a rollercoaster ride, on minute I would be hitting the 'next episode' quicker than a kangaroo on steroids, and then for the next couple of episodes it took me great strength to not just turn it off and drop it.

I never felt very close to characters, I didn't feel sympathy, I dont feel they were developed well enough, the main characters I thought were pretty bland and unintresting in my personal opinion. Although the plot had potential, and I did get what was going on eventually, I just felt it could have been handled better (maybe with it being such a short series they just didn't have time to fully develop the characters well enough for my taste)

I shall end with some positives for the show because despite it seeming like a loathe this anime, it probably wasn't as bad as what I am making it out to be. First of all I though both opening and ending songs were really nice and atmospheric and went well with the show. I especially like the ending which I have even downloaded. The picture and art in the show is very nice with fluid motion throughout. If anything the sound and art really brought the series up in my eyes, and I have said before some episodes were really gripping and very good, and at points I was actually gripped and thought that it was going to go somewhere.

But overall I just think the story didn't really contain any 'wow' factor for me, I did not really care much for any of the characters (especially the annoying and tbh quite useless sidekick staff) and while some episodes were quite thrilling and gripping and I do appreciate and respect that they were touching on real life problems and tragedy's (abuse, teen suicide, bullying etc etc) I still found some of the episodes rather boring and hard to get through. But I loved the art and soundtrack, and I must say the ending was quite touching.
