Fruits Basket is the corniest thing I've ever read but instead of rolling my eyes at it, I found myself repeatedly choking up as I read through it. It's so heartfelt you can't help but love it.
I especially loved Yuki's character development. At first, I was a little miffed that there the school council parts were taking away from the Tohru moments, but eventually it clicked for me and I really loved how Yuki grew as a person. And then that conversation at the very end... oh man. :')

Sonny Boy is a fun surrealist look at teenage angst and growing up and the bittersweet/melancholic but hopeful emotions that come along with it, something which the ending itself reinforces. things might not always pan out as you want growing up but your life is just starting, move forward instead of closing yourself off. you can't really change the whole world, but this is the world where you belong.
special shout-out to the OST and the sound design, which was truly incredible. definitely gotta check out toe and sunset rollercoaster now. both this and Odd Taxi are my AOTY so far, two anime originals that hit the ... |
