This anime is much more than what it looks like. Some people have criticized it for not having much romance despite having "romantic comedy" in the title, but what they haven't realized is that if they read past the "romantic comedy" you can see that it also says "is wrong as I expected", from this we can infer that the romance in this series is not like any other, you could say this anime is an anti-romcom to put it in simpler words, but that's what it used to be at the beginning, as the series progressed it became much more than that. It went

above and beyond what a RomCom or SoL had ever set out to do, to sum it up, Oregairu is a message dedicated to humankind and how they have demeaned the importance and value of real relationships in modern society.
All of that is conveyed through the main character of the story, Hikigaya Hachiman, a cynical loner. Hachiman is one of if not the best written character I've ever seen. How he uses self-deprecation to hide his flaws or make the look like they aren't, he believes that there can't be a problem if we don't think of it as one, but the only thing he is doing is actually running away from it and hurting the individuals that care for him, but he doesn't realize that because he sees himself as nothing but a worthless loner, the lowest of the low.
I strongly suggest giving this series multiple rewatches and paying close atention, since the most important scenes are given to us through subtext, and that requires the viewers to actually think about what's going on. But I think that's one of the charms this anime has, everytime I rewatch this series I found something new, a new understanding, a new meaning, a new reason to like this show. I give my upmost respect to the author, Wataru Watari, for gifting us this masterpiece.
