Yikes. I haven't seen a good romance in so long and the reviews here deceived me. I gave it a try, and I thought it had a good premise. Sort of. A girl who is deaf and the popular nice guy. OK, same cliche as the shy x popular but with a nice bonus of the girl being deaf. I say "nice" because that's exactly how her disability is treated. It's portrayed as adding on to her cuteness, and I will admit, a big reason for me sticking with this anime past the first few episodes was her - she's stinking adorable. And this is
...
fine, but what isn't is her relationship with the male interest. He treats her like a child, at one point straight up covers her eyes so she can't see him talking to her friend like a parent might do with a child. Gross.
When he introduces her to his friend, they talk over her like she's not there even though she's the topic of conversation. Again, like she's a child. It would be one thing if she acknowledged this as one of the downsides of her disability and felt some frustration because of it. But no, she even feels the need to look away to not read their lips. Ugh. This anime really banks on her being so "pure" that not a single negative thought goes through her head. For the love of god, give her some agency, a bit of growth.
4/10 only because it has good points outside of plot.

Spectacular.
This little show brought so much more than anyone expected. Don't let it fool you into thinking it's just a funny SOL-- it is, but that's not there is to it.
It's also about love. About family. About healing and grief, About letting yourself move on with life when you don't think you deserve it. Embracing and seeking change, for yourself and those that are important to you.
All in 12 episodes, amongst laughter, tears, squeals and groans when the much too realistic 4 year old spills the laundry detergent and ruins breakfast.
This show isn't perfect. It doesn’t have enough time to resolve
...
all the plot within 12 episodes, it aims for realism in some aspects, while a more unrealistic approach might have worked better, or vise versa. Some might find switches from the lighthearted scenes to the serious ones (we ARE dealing with two assassins, and the show does not forget this, even if you do) bizarre, but they are intentional to highlight the kind of life our two mains lead. Assassins during the day, where their life could end at any given day, while at home, their domestic life awaits, seeming almost like a fantasy.
And yet, despite its flaws, the end result is a beatiful, heart-wrenching depicture of two broken men whom, with the unexpected help of a little girl, learn to change. To even want to change. Hadn't considered such a thing was possible. Mundane happiness wasn't the sort of things assassins could attain. But they crave it. One of them does (Kazuki). The other, Rei, who had never known an ounce of familial love in his life, who did not even know how to smile--cheers, eventually. Screams at the top of his lungs for his little girl at a school event. The growth of this character is tremendous. Ah, excuse me while I cry over the scene again.
All in all, wonderful, wonderful show. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Loved it. Our MC is amazingly well written, layered and realistic. She is a grown woman who at first glance has it all put together. When someone calls her a "young lady", she says "I'm not young anymore. I'll be 30 this year". And it's really that statement that sets the tone of this story. At the end of the day, she is still very much discovering herself, growing as a person like we all do, and has to take on the burden of a child. And through him, she learns to love, to selflessly protect for the sake of protecting. No longer to pay
...
a debt, out of duty or promises, but really, for herself. Chagum sets her free.
This anime made me weep, I could see myself in this woman, and all the decisions she took I felt for myself. Truly fantastic work.

I don't usually write reviews, but I'm so disappointed with this and with myself for wasting hours of my day on this crap. I stayed up until 4 in the morning to finish it. Not because it was so good I couldn't stop, but because I was frustrated with it and just wanted to get it over with.
The premise is not a bad one, but it is badly executed. It's about a man who cross dresses and meets a man while in drag. They go out and he eventually falls for this man. The main conflict here is coming out to admit he is
...
a man. There are several plot holes that are arguably trivial, but not once throughout reading did they stop bothering me. Perhaps things were lost in translation but the story isn't written well. It reads to me like an uninterested narrator that is reciting a speech. The concept of cross dressing here is shallow and plain discarded at the end. The love that develops is also shallow, unfelt. The man who falls in love with the MC does so without any reason or explanation, and when the MC does eventually like him back, it all seems fake. One could argue that it seems this way because he starts to like the man as the "woman", and thus he seems fake, but this story isn't that deep. Even when he comes out as a man, his feelings still don't get across to the reader. His feelings and actions are not well developed. In fact, none of the characters get much development. The women are portrayed as such annoying and weak creatures that it gets annoying. As a whole, the story is unrealistic and frustrating. Only read if you have nothing better to do. There are worse stories out there. 4/10
WARNING FOR SPOILER BELOW
There is a particular scene that frustrated me so much I almost dropped this story but dutifully dragged on with it for sake of finishing it. The MC gets raped. Raw, no lubricant used raped. However this is never addressed! He even goes as far as to say it was consensual. It was rape. MC asked to stop multiple times but despite the blood and tears, the man did not stop. And he never shows any remorse nor does the MC resent him for it.
