The anime took the generic "Kicked out of Party then become High-ranked/Popular" trope, and I don't see anything wrong with that. Yes, it's a cliche genre, but nevertheless is still good should it was properly conveyed. And this series is one of them, except the Anime adaptation completely betrays that.
Adaptation up to Episdoe 7 is not perfect, yes: there's a ton of skipped or modified scene, but we've used to this, I believe. But how Episode 8 is made is beyond saving. It's extremely horrendeous, even with low standard of how series based on Manga/Novel was usually adapted, and sugarcoating any of it won't even
...
make it justifiable. There is a massive load of impotant scene and information skipped over, modified and tossed aside just to make this episode. If you've ever watched the final episode of "Tensei Kizoku no Isekai Boukenroku", yes, it's almost as bad as that one.
For those curious about this series, please consider go for the Manga instead, or Novel if you can read Japanese.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, waste your time watching this. It isn't worth your time.

First of all, let's serve some justice to the series.
From the manga itself, this story is designed as a spin-off and accompanying story for the main series: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. Thus, it is given that both are to be watched alongside, not only either one on its own. Therefore, if any of you wanted to watch this, either out of curiousity or as a fans, please watch the main series first.
Now, for the adaptation itself.
For the story, frankly, there are quite some important bits cut out, just like any other adaptation. However, as those cut out parts has been explained in the main story,
...
it does not give a too much holes to the story as a while.
For the art, it can be much better. It'll be my miss if I weren't to mention that there is a definite downgrade of the image quality compared to the main series. However it's still fine and enjoyable, especially if all you want is watching girls interacting and few addition to fanservice -in which is lacking in the main series-.
As for the music, just like any Mahouka adaptation so far: it's superb, and it does enhance both the experience and the enjoyment of the whole series. It also serve as a support to build up the mood and atmosphere on certain occasion. Nothing I can say negatively on this matter, it's simply a good music in and out. Not the best, but still nonetheless great.
The character development itself, its answer so many question left by the main series. While not everything is answered, obviously -and few scenes are differ from those in main series-, it still gives adequate answer and explanation from which the main story left behind.
For the overall enjoyment itself, I can't say much on this regard. Yes, the series is nice, but with so many differences in scene and adaptation between main series and this adaptation, one will need to constantly cross-referencing the scene it meant. By no means this is a pleasant experience, especially if you wish a smooth watching experience.
Overall, it's a nice and good adaptation, but like I said in the first: please watch the main series first before watching this. The first season of the main series is enough, up to conclusion of the Nine School Competition chapter (around episode 20 or so). If not, you might end up confused with what being discussed or presented here.
That's all I'd like to share, and hopefully this can help~

I know the series for the first time is due to randomly searching for alternate title around 2013. At that time, I got really bored with all anime aired (and popular) at that time. During this search and boredom, I stumbled upon a PV of Tamayura, and instantly attracted.
Fast forward 4 years later, here I am now, still rewatching and rewatching the entire series, from the original OAD which released far back in 2010 up to this last piece of movie. No other word can explain what I felt regarding this series: Awesome.
The series told about a whole three-years life of its character, and each
...
of them are developed slowly yet carefully during the whole series. You can watch them and feel it as is you're one of them yourself. The story is so deep in meaning and messages, yet it is conveyed in a such light way. You need not to put more effort on enjoying the work while understanding the story messages. The song itself also boost up the entire story, making it as an unseparable part of this awesome work.
After a long day of tiresome works at office, school or other places, this piece of art is definitely soothing your day and relieve you of all streeses. It's so warm, yet so easy to understand, and moreover, it is really relaxing, both for yourself and your mind. Definitely one of the best Slice of Life series I'd ever watched so far.
The only drawback of this episode is just one: there will be no more Tamayura in future.
If you're about to try watching this series, don't hesitate any longer. Just hit the play button, sit back and enjoy the show.

If you ever need a story that can be easily followed, this one might be a good choice for you.
Based on "Slice of Life" genre, this series brought up a story that both have meanings for life, as well as easy to follow. Even though it's bit long: 2 season, few OVAs and movies, it's not boring at all to follow the stories thoroughly.
The music and songs used in the series also helps building up the mood, enhancing what are the pictures trying to tell you, thus creating a pleasant but awesome atmosphere to watch the anime. Don't be surprised if you found yourself suddenly
...
bursting into tears after watching some scene, especially if you try to put yourself in the character's foot.
In short, this series is really easy to follow, yet relaxing. After a busy day, watching this kind of stuffs will replenish your spirit to continue make something in the rest of day, as well as keeping a good mood for the next day.
Try watch them, you won't be disappointed.
