Honestly, the premise of this story felt ridiculous to me. The pursuit of a dream stemming from a personal loss/loved one's death seems over simplified and done before. The only thing that kept me going was the beautiful animation, and it's enough of a redeeming factor to make me watch Season 2. The relationship between the protagonists felt rushed and unrealistic. The villains felt again over simplified and shallow. I wish that there had been more character development and world building. If you want a simple shoujo romance that's pretty to look at but nothing more, this is it.

Found this anime when searching for a new romance one to watch. I thought it would be the typical school romance kind of anime (which I do also watch and am not totally against), but it isn't at all. At first, I wasn't a fan of the fantasy/magic aspect of the show, with fantasy/isekai (this is not isekai) being my least favorite, but it works for this show. I've not felt such strong emotions when watching an anime in a long time. I can't reconcile the bittersweet feelings - so so sad that the ending is pretty much conclusive, and there won't be more. It's ... a little slower, but give this one a chance!

Love the art and animation. FL is frankly difficult to like, and the main plot seems already predictable (after watching the 2nd, now 3rd, episode). You already know ML and FL will get together. I think the supporting characters and ML are interesting, so I'll keep watching. Please let this anime not be one that's about a "beautiful and entitled yet horribly misunderstood victim girl who is perfect in every way except nobody understands her" story. Besides it being a beautifully drawn anime, nothing is that memorable. I can imagine lots of hype for this though. I feel like most pretty anime are highly rated, ... despite same plot and overused dynamic. I predict the series is probably going to end with her opening up in school and letting her guard down. Please, unless the anime can do this tiresome formula really well, just don't. Music is okay, but nothing really stands out.

Honestly was bored watching this series. I kept waiting for something to happen between the two leads, but the characters kept getting more and more ridiculous. The supporting characters did nothing to really make the plot more interesting or FOIL the mail characters. I thought the character development among all characters could have been deeper and more creative. I understand why people would find this anime cute, but since the plot and characters are not particularly interesting, it's really just cute as a concept. I've watched a lot of anime in this genre, and this was a disappointment. Nothing seriously questionable and not terrible, just ... not good.

Sweet story, although predictable to say the least. ML was incredibly frustrating a lot of the times, and I have mixed feelings about the overused "quiet victim girl" and "popular savior guy" dynamic. Art style was also not the best but not the worst. Despite this, I liked how the friendships among all the characters played out. It's definitely not in my top 10 favorite romance anime, but I enjoyed it. I think if there ever was a second season, I would watch it. Suki tte Ii na yo reminds me of Kimi ni Todoke, but I think Kimi ni Todoke is slightly better and ... less frustrating to watch (frustrating in a different way).
