A fair upgrade from the disastrous prequel, I'd say. If you're here then that means you don't necessarily have expectations for this series to turn splendid & honestly are just here for the boys (like me) because if you didn't get the gist of it yet, this 100% caters to the boys, idol life & rabid fans who take these things at face value & I'm writing this in consideration that you have already seen the first season. Why would you come here otherwise?
Second season & with it, more boys & more adventure towards idol stardom but with less messy & inconsistent plotline. That's literally
...
it. There's nothing special about the plotline except for the fact that this season gave each of the Starish boys a redemption arc & further glimpse of their characters, which is literally the meat of season two. The seniors who were assigned to Starish were, what I found to be, a nice addition to the cast. I mean, more boys, right? Also, Haruka has more of a purpose now, but is still intolerable.
As for the artstyle, high, high standards, but decent. Everything looks colorful & dreamy which is, at some times, rather excessive or unnecessary, or both. Haruka is still soup-eyes chan.
I don't have much to say on music really. You either like it or hate it, it's idol music & how much you like or hate it is on you, though from a personal perspective it's good, it can pass really. Therefore I can't make a comparison between first & second season's tracks.
Season two was definitely a better experience than the first one & if you like the boys but don't know if you should watch it because it might be worse, then I'd suggest it for all I care. All in all, reviews vary & UtaPri definitely isn't for everyone.

This is one considerably late review coming in & the irony in that is that Nana is one of my favorite series.
Among the slice of life works I've seen, this is one of my firsts & my magnum opus of the genre so far. I tell my friends about it, I listen to the soundtrack still & I just love it.
There are so many things I love about Nana. It sells an intricate plot line, the character cast is impressive & the music is great.
Going through Nana from start to finish was like a prospect of finding something real, in that, the way relationships have
...
been portrayed & characters developed throughout 47 episodes was so down-to-earth & borderline real. I'm not necessarily a sucker for romance & drama per say, but I've enjoyed the story so much. There have been so many instances where everything could go wrong, but thankfully that didn't happen. The story is set up in a way that's relatable & that could make you find yourself to be emotionally connected to every event & character. The same goes for the character cast really.
The only thing I didn't like is the art, not that I'm the only one really, though predominantly character art. The characters look too thin, tall though that's probably the standard of shoujo works by far so I'm not surprised. If I were to watch this again, I don't see why I couldn't get behind it again.
The characters & story is the meat of Nana, & a very good piece at that. Overall, personally, a suggested watch from me.

Prior to watching this, some of my friends said this is either a god tier show or their favorite, so I was eager to head into K while taking into consideration that I've been looking into it for a considerable amount of time too. The reviews that came in for this one are debatable but it just boils down to personal taste & as for myself I'm neutral about my stance on that & the series.
What probably gets K the most praise is the artstyle, which i'm very fond of. I'm not going to note anything original about it anyway, so I might just leave
...
it at that. I just love the way everything looks really.
Given that I love soundtrack music, K made some nice points here too. There aren't that many songs that play throughout the series but for how few of them there are, I'd say a nice selection has been made for a 13-episode series like this one. It fits K's ambiance really well & from a personal perspective it's something I'd listen to casually.
Being conflicted about how the plot developed, the character cast with the addition of the fact that I've not watched or reviewed a single series for a while, I've come to the conclusion that plot & character departments are the show's biggest selling points, but not very good ones, hence why I've given K a 6 overall. To sum it up, you'll enter the Kverse not knowing what is going on at first but as the series goes on a fair bit of light will be shed on what the series was leading you onto since the beginning, which is a fair surprise but the rest of it is either misleading, messy, or both. As for the characters, nothing that has never been done before. Too big of a cast to be equally supported in only 13 episodes but I don't necessarily hate it.
If I had to boil down my experience with the first K series in one sentence, it'd be something among the lines of "I wasn't impressed, but the series' continuation probably has a redemption arc that I'm interested into with how everything was layed out in 13 episodes."

Going through this series, there was a lot to take in. I wanted to watch this so hastily & I also had high expectations that I didn't realize there were prequels to the core title until late &, as a matter of fact, I just finished it, so I'm kind of in the process of reflecting on my experience with the series from the past month up to this point & I'll be covering only the meat & bone of LoGH in this review.
When I said "there was a lot to take in", it really goes in several ways. With the already present fact that
...
is, for some, an overwhelming length, this 110-episode epic requires full attention of the viewer & character, story comprehension for the prime experience. The narrative story-telling is something I've received very well, with the amount of events having unfolded throughout the whole series, dialogue & a wide cast of characters, it truly didn't miss its mark. The pacing is very consistent
To be frank, considering the amount of characters that were present, LoGH is one of the series that presents the handling of the cast & their development throughout the series the best. No one felt like an addition or a filler character, everyone has had their shred of significance from start to finish, having realized that & the weight of the characters on the plot-line (also due to personal bias for Yang & Reinhard) is what allows me to rate the character segment with 10.
Now, how do I put this? LoGH doesn't try to be "smart" by including unexpected plot-twists or some other "quirky" trick, like people might think. What makes LoGH amazing is how the general writing & the quality of it didn't sway at any point, which greatly reflects on the whole cast. Yang & Reinhard were enemies, but only in ideals, their characteristics made them seem so real & how they & their environments changed throughout the series probably makes them my favorite MCs. There have been dozens of times when the series could have taken a dramatic shift and leave a bitter taste in my mouth afterwards but, in terms of drama level, they have been handled rather naturally, as I like to say.
The artstyle, given that it's been 31 years since the OVA's airing, people who already have seen this might hold opinions from different points of view. Comparing the animation styles from the past to the ones of present, I believe, is a subjective thing. However, focusing my perspective on the all-around character design and animation in the series from that age, it's amazing &, as a side note, a very appealing factor due to the fact the animation of the general universe was handled with no slack & the characters' facial features being drawn out rather realistically, compared to what I got used to seeing from when I was still a kid to present time. None of the characters look the same, from the Free Planets Alliance to the Galactic Empire, everyone's different, which reflects on their individuality & general characteristics.
The BGM that plays during the episodes is an interesting & rather fitting selection, which is all classical music by artists of earlier centuries (17th,18th,etc.) which include, but are not limited to Mozart, J.S.Bach, Beethoven, Bruckner, Brahms, etc. The OPs & EDs though are all Japanese, of which the openings are sung in English.
Without a doubt, this is one of the best animated works I've seen. The thing I've personally found misleading is the somewhat common "don't drop it before episode 26" line within the LoGH fandom. Space opera is one of my least favorite genres yet I found myself to be in love with the grasp of & the idea this series is presenting by the beginning of episode 3 because I don't think there's a point where it gets "interesting", the way the series is layed out to the viewer & the idea of it makes it such from the get-go, which doesn't necessarily have to apply to everyone.
The general misconception a grand majority of the new generation of anime viewers hold on series as old as this one is either "old", "long" or "boring", of which two of these apply to LoGH. However, reviews have been present in this community way before I heard of MAL to lay out objective opinions as to either put up your public stance on a title or to encourage more people to head into a series & drop every past misconception they've had about it, or both, which for me is the case. Though I won't urge anyone to watch this, I highly recommend it as a must-see title, I wholeheartedly do.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes has turned into a priceless, irreplaceable gem for me & as such it's one of the best, if not the only best series I've seen thus far & I hold it in very high standards in the anime/OVA medium. I'd assume my opinion on it would be even better had I seen the prequels, but there'll be time for it.
Masterful work.

First and foremost, this is not really a romance series as it is a reverse-harem one.
There's not really much to say about UtaPri so I'll keep myself short.
I'm okay with the general premise, but the whole run is, summed up in 2 words, dull & unfulfilling.
A lot of scenes happen that make no sense and some things happen way too fast and leave you with unanswered questions. Why, how, or when?
The characters themselves don't give you a lot of reasons to genuinely like and care for them, especially with Haruka since she's another example of a main girl that's just there, simply. Each one of
...
the main boys got an individual episode which has fleshed them out, but not much or in a way that's immediately obvious.
The soundtrack is good for idol anime standards, you could say it's fitting at most, but only that much. There are some good tunes here & there though.
The art is okay somewhat. A-1 is known for making stuff that has a lot of visual appeal to it, but the dancing animations are a distraction and Haruka's eyes, in particular, make her look like a living corpse.
While I don't like how this series has presented itself like, let it be known that I don't hate it. I like idol anime, at least subjectively, and me not giving the series a hard 1 or 2 in total is thanks to that and I'll give it another shot for season 2. I believe this is a good enough score for it overall, though if you don't love idol anime, don't watch this.

I find it preposterous to see this series fall short in hype & success compared to 2017's few hit titles that shall not be named, not because of what they are like or have done on their own, but because of what they didn't manage to do compared to Houseki no Kuni, or Land of the Lustrous, however you will it.
The imaginative setting of this title gives the viewer a chance to explore a universe that is shrouded by the mysterious factors that have surrounded it for ages through their own experience. You are tasked with uncovering the existence & truth of the gems, the
...
Lunarians (or Moon People) and what happened for that world to end up like this. That alone makes this an interesting experience from start to finish.
If that wasn't enough, you have a peculiar but intriguing cast of characters who bring that universe to life. The gems, they are androgynous humanoids that are named after & based on actual ores, tasked with either, bluntly, doing work on the side or being on the front lines, if you will, which depends on how tough they are. Phos, the protagonist, is good for neither due to their low toughness and clumsy personality. Though it is until later in the series that they become an interestingly developed character, making them a memorable one as well.
For so long, CGI has been the thorn in a nail for the casual viewer, but for a series which is based on CGI from start to finish, it was remarkably well done. I can very much see & appreciate the amount of care put into fleshing out the detail of the environment, just wonderful. Truly, if all future titles were to be animated like this one, I'd want all of it.
There is also a fantastic soundtrack that goes along with it. The opening and ending are rather great in terms of vocals & visuals, while the background music has been made with care to absolutely fit with the ambiance of this title and the events in it.
There is no complete ending in the story just yet, because the manga is still on-going, though the plot-line ending in this title is satisfying enough. Knowing that, Houseki no Kuni has a lot going for it and could become a monumental series due to the absolute joy of exploration it sets on the viewer & how intriguing the future of this setting is. Overall, I find this series to be a remarkable work and it is at least worth giving a chance, for I will certainly look into it more.

The second season of Sunshine is truly something. In one way, it's absurd, because it just isn't real to have students be, for example, so loving and passionate for their school.. all the time. In another way, absolutely fantastic. Sunrise have done it again with a charming second season that I think gave me even more than expected, warmer & lingering feelings for Aqours. This might be my favorite LL entry.
There's not much to the plot-line in this season, very similar to the first series. Second Love Live is coming around, there are concerns about the 3rd years' graduation and what Aqours should do after,
...
some more funny sequences and drama, though what Sunshine excels in is portraying the connection between Aqours better, gracing the fans with a rewarding experience and all the more feelings towards Aqours this time around and the whole series and the amount of drama is being kept at bay, not bland & not exaggerated at times at any point.
The artstyle is much better this time around, even the CGI. It didn't feel like a distraction and if you're particularly into idol stuff and cute girls singing and dancing you'll find this to be pretty fun to see actually.
The main girls and also Saint Snow have also gotten their well-deserved development and even though there isn't widely much of it, it's still a lot better and satisfying compared to what felt like a rush and rocky start in the first season. There's all the more reason to like & care for the girls.
The soundtrack of Love Live never decreases in quality. The music is awesome to listen to and the better CGI comes off as an enhancement to the experience. I find myself listening to MY Mai☆TONIGHT and Awaken the power often though since those tracks in particular are some that are of more appeal to my taste.
I don't know what to expect from the movie or even the future series, if there ever ends up being one again. Overall, Love Live is an entertaining franchise that's surely to get you in your feelings which depends on whether you enjoy a show like this or not in the first place. It has been an amazing run and i'm sure the movie's gonna be too.

I love Love Live!, in fact, I adore it. This alone is what brought me to the point of putting time into reviewing yet another Love Live! series and made me patient with its flaws as I enrolled into, at most, an alternative setting that does make a lot of remarks about the previous series and to be precise, from the character standpoint, μ's.
From a subjective standpoint, there's a lot of things I could say about Love Live! Sunshine! (and the whole series in general but let's keep it at this since this is aimed at first season of Sunshine anyway) which are nice and
...
I could at least say that I am very emotionally engaged with it for the small amount of time I've been into it, since reviewing requires me to be as objective as possible, which I'll get to right now.
However, as much as I love one series, I cannot avoid putting up a proper review for the sake of anime viewers and especially Love Live! fans who want to see more from the series just because of personal bias.
If you've seen the first Love Live! then don't expect things to be completely different here, because they are not. One could say this is a re-run of the first series but with a different main cast & setting but, Sunshine has some points that make the series special & appealing on its own and it does have connections to the first Love Live! after all.
The part that is, honestly, a shame is that Sunrise has managed to not only draw in the elements from the first season of the first series to Sunshine, but also the flaws. I truly did hope they've learned something from the brilliant second season of the first Love Live!, but that's not the case here. The plot-line here is almost the same, the pace is displeasing and there's, again, a whole lot of characters who don't give you a lot of reasons to like & care for them because they aren't & don't have the chance to be developed enough for a ~260 minute run, and 9 main characters are already be too much for one season if I do say so myself but, having the idea of how Sunrise works as much, most of this will be dispelled during the second season.
I feel like the artstyle is much better this time, the CGI in particular. Not distracting compared to the first season and Sunrise really works their way around how the environment and characters look in a good & fitting way.
What I like is how the first season of Sunshine is on-point with the level of drama going on. It isn't something more or different than what it really is even though the theme is basically the same and something that can be found in a lot of bitter-sweet series that don't have to be similar to Love Live!. Sunshine really hit the spot there.
The character cast is rather interesting and by that I mostly mean Saint Snow, Aqours' rival group. Since you could say they are the counterpart to A-RISE in the first season, compared to them, Ria and Seira don't start out as the biggest idol group and are the performers or characters you'd expect them to be if you know what A-RISE is like. Though Aqours faces the same issue as in the first season of the first series, I find them to be quite lovable and special on their own subjectively. I do believe they should reach peak development in the second season.
As expected, Sunshine continues to milk out outstanding idol music that's another reason to why I find Aqours to be special on their own. ''Snow Halation'' and ''Start:Dash'' have been quite the songs but I listen to a lot of Guilty Kiss (I have been doing so way before I got into LL actually) and as I go by more episodes, I can see Aqours clawing themselves in my playlist here and there.
I find myself to be comparing the first Love Live! to Sunshine a lot but it's not like the series isn't doing so itself. It isn't disconnecting itself by any means and, as a matter of fact, the series pays homage to μ's often and, to be precise, from the character standpoint, Aqours.
Overall, I can get the low scores for this series because of varying tastes of other people. This doesn't exactly appeal to every audience but if you're willing to give Love Live! a try, watch the first series + the movie and come back here. If you want to see more from the series then certainly watch this! If you can get past the recurring flaws, you're in for a good ride.

This review will cover the second season of LLSIP. I'll probably make some comparisons here and there to the first season but if you're interested in what I've had to say for the first season, please see the review I wrote for it beforehand.
Love Live, for me, is one of those series that, before watching, I thought I wouldn't like a bit, but after actually heading into it, I ended up loving it. Also, I honestly can't believe I've missed it all this time.
Having said a lot in my review of the first season already, I feel like there isn't much to add here. The
...
second season of Love Live tops the first one, which had a rather rocky start, in all aspects.
If you didn't enjoy the first season as much but still like the show enough to make you want to see more from it, I can be certain when I say that you will feel rewarded at the end of another ~260 minute run. It looks better, feels better, is better in general and more fun to watch.
The characters, who I've had an objective issue with in the first season, actually felt like genuine characters this time around. There is definitely an amount of care put into handling them which can be noticed as you take your time through the season but that can also be seen in the plot as well. A matching pace this time around, rewarding plot-line and, overall, experience.
I don't really talk about the artstyle unless it's too hideous or fascinating to note, but improvements can be seen there as well. The enviroment and characters just look better, I'd say they had more life in them compared to the first season. Love Live looks just fine in general, though some might find the CGI to be somewhat distracting.
This should be a given, but Love Live has an amazing soundtrack, being an idol anime. It makes a return and finds its way to stay of on-point quality, appeal as each song showcases a new stage for µ's and as an advancement route for the group as performers and people. I find the peak of music in LLSIP to be ''Snow Halation'', a track that showcases µ's and their appeal. It is an absolutely amazing uplifting albeit sad vocal piece that I have a special place for both subjectively and objectively.
The amount of passion & hype that surrounded Love Live all this time is something I never really understood, until now. I think it will manage to claw itself in as one of the franchises I am most emotionally engaged with and I can't wait to see more from it.

this review will be based on only experience & knowledge on the first season of LLSIP and i will certainly get around to working my way around other titles and their reviews only because i, a bit unexpectedly, love this series so much. i will not be only pointing out the good and the bad with it, i'll try to lay out my personal enjoyment and experience in written format as i feel this is one very debated-upon series and i believe it matters in this case.
i believe a lot of the scores (which are varied pretty much) for love live are based on personal
...
taste and you'll hear it from me first, i'm not the type who'd spend 4 hours on a show like this. if you see what my favorite and highest ranked titles are then you'll pretty much see how that reflects on this even though i claim for myself to be able to sit through pretty much every story and complete it but, space operas, mecha and idol shows are things i'd least go for.
subjectively and objectively, i was almost sure i would not like love live. i almost considered dropping the whole franchise as i considered this one would be a total time waste but i made myself go through it and by the end of the third episode, i found myself to be hooked to the show.
the story and the characters, albeit flawed in their respective departments, will tug your heartstrings, which ultimately depends on your taste. the story is bland, fast-paced (some things aren't immediately obvious if you don't really pay attention) and there are too many characters that can't and don't have the chance to be fleshed out properly for one full season and i find those to be the biggest faults of the first season, objectively. though despite that, i accept it for what it is and love it because of the fact that i, again, unexpectedly, enjoyed it so much, subjectively.
the music is a key point of the series that i feel like i have to point out. i almost never listen to idol music, though i like a /few/ songs. i've listened to μ's songs so many times before i went into the series, i didn't like them, but i do now. aside the fact that they certainly grew on me, i believe this series is going to reach the peak excellence of what it wants to present itself like musically and i respect that. all in all, love live music is something i'd definitely listen to and i find it to be very appealing honestly, which once again depends on your taste.
the first season of love live SIP has certainly been an experience, though i won't absolutely shove it down everyone's guts only out of personal preference. i believe the most you're going to get out of it depends on taste and how much you end up enjoying it, so it's on you whether you wish to head into the series or not.
