Frieren: Beyond Journey's End has impressed me for a number of reasons:
1. Unique Story Premise:
When I watched the teaser and also while watching the first episode, it felt like Mushoku Tensei minus the isekai. However, when the first episode ended with Frieren's party members growing old and them not being travel buddies anymore, it piqued my interest. This development got me intrigued, thinking about how the anime will progress from here on. The story explores the emotional weight of immortality and how Frieren deals & gets influenced by the human relationships during her an eternity long elven lifespan.
2. Compelling Characters:
The cast is full of well
...
written characters, each with their own motivations and struggles, adding depth to the story. The First Class Mage Exam Arc was pretty impressive too which introduced a whole plethora of new characters. The action, music, and direction were perfect as well. I liked or at least found interesting every character mentioned and introduced in that arc.
3. Beautiful Animation:
Madhouse poured their heart into producing this which is evident in how beautiful it looked. The art style is distinct, focusing on creating a beautiful & calming atmosphere. The animation is fluid with detailed backgrounds and character designs.
4. Emotional Depth:
This anime deals with a lot of themes like loss, grief, and the passage of time which can be a thought provoking watch, that explores the value of human life & relationships.
5. Action and Slice of Life:
Although we got to see some well directed and animated action in The First Class Mage Exam Arc, this anime isn't an action heavy series. It prioritizes character development and explores thier journeys through a nice blend of action and everyday moments.
Overall, this anime was a slow burn series that I enjoyed watching every single episode of. It has a unique and emotional story which might be worth checking out.
Also, this is my first anime review and this anime is the 100th anime franchise I've watched, so that's pretty cool.
