Honestly, i hardly find a Manga (3) Very Bad or worse than that but i can't say that for this manga right here, it's a complete mess. I'm gonna write some spoilers but don't worry, there's nothing to spoil much in a manga that's already rotten. Well, 1945 is that kind of classic cliché story about a couple that can't be together like romeo and juliett or something but this time centered around the Second World War and the nazist party.
So, the story is really rushed its divided in three parts between the main characters it starts with two
...
friends Rosa and Elen that are said to be best friends but we can't really know, there is no development!!! I mean Elen cries when they get separated but the autor didn't really showed us any scenes where the two had some kind of deep bond or anything. Anyway, back to the start, the two friends are hanging around when they find a dying bird and some guy shows up and try to put it back on it's nest but it suddenly fly away and it's all that it takes for Elen to fall in love with him, like, really in love. Forward two years the Second War starts and the two friends got separated because Rosa is a jew and Elen is deutsch and Elen is in love with Alex because he's the guy that saved that bird!! oh, he's also from the hitler youth so he's a nazi. We also got told that Max, Elen's brother is a college student with strong feelings against the government and so he tells Elen about concentration camps and what they probably did to her friend.... Elen than proceeds to confront Alex, her lover and he tells her that he doens't know and it ends there, she's still in love even knowing that. Anyway the second chapter is about Alex rising in the nazi army and bla bla bla who cares, nothing really happens that has a huge impact, Elen never mentioned her friend again, she starts working with her brother spreading anti nazi propaganda but when Alex comes back she's still in love and whatsoever ughh... her parents don't really talk to her about anything we don't know what Elen does, like, she goes to college? what about other friends? how she feels about the government? Does she not care that her boyfriend somewhat killed her best friend?? I think the autor tried too hard to develop a huge story into a single volume manga that just couldn't work in any way.
The art in this manga is the only good thing about it, it's that classic shoujo style of drawings and panelings but it suffers from a lack of differentiation of the characters, sometimes i couldn't really differentiate between Alex and Max and many others to be honest. The scenery is also greatly done!
If you want to read something like this go for Adolf by Tezuka it's a million times better and i know it's not exactly the same plot and stuff but stay away from 1945.

Oh My God This Is The Saddest Thing I've Ever Read. Grass is a multi prized manhwa that deserves every single one of them, it's more than just a book, it's a lesson, it's a mark that can't ever by overlooked or forgotten, it tells a story that cannot be lost for the sake of justice and humanity.
In this manhwa Keum Suk Gendry Kim interviews an old lady from Korea who were forced to work into "Comfort Houses" or without euphemisms, brothels, during the Second War, amidst the japanese invasion. That period in case you didn't know was one of the most brutal episodes
...
humanity has ever seen, full of the most atrocious things one could ever think of, it's no wonder chinese and koreans have a lot of ressentment from Japan, i mean, they ruined their countries and their citizens for long long years. That being said, you can imagine the horrors this books constantly talks about and the author does it in a way that is so touching it's impossible not to be on the verge of crying out loud. Keum Suk drawings contrasts with the harsh theme from the history the whole manhwa and it kinda makes you feel like "it's not that bad, look at those silly drawings", but as you go turning the pages and seeing the sad faces the old lady does the emotion she was drawn within every single part of the story you start to feel the heaviness of her heart in yours. It draws you to get to know more of this old lady, you want her to have a good ending, you need to know that everything turns out right for her... and well, you got to read to know. Another thing i loved about Grass was how the author interspersed the scenes between interviewing and flashbacks and how subtle it was done giving this such a great pace. I don't think there's a single negative point in this manhwa, i mean besides the main characters the others could have gotten a little more work on, we could have gotten a little more deeper in certain periods of the life of the MC but that wouldn't make much difference honestly, it's not the point anyway it's a story of a real person who lived through one of the most horrific times the world has ever passed it's about a survivor it's about Ok-Sun Lee a name that cannot be forgotten.

Well there's nothin much to say about this one, it kinda seems like there's no plot at all and the characters are misterious we don't know much about them. Perhaps it's a continuation of another Yokoyama Yuichi work I remember seeing something like that on the web, overall we have little information about this author on the occident, what i can say about him is that his works are mostly based on geometric drawings and a lack of plot and dialogue, the characters kinda of drift off aimlessly to places and meet shady characters at least that's what i can manage to understand reading this
...
story. What stands most on this is the artwork, really there's no other manga that will look like this, the art is sharp, again really geometric for the background and even for the faces, it's strange, it's different. If you don't bother reading something that has no clear objective or closure and is really interested in seeing different arts through manga this might be a good call.

Moshi moshi! what are you wearing?? For this review i'm wearing just some socks and a little bit of sarcasm! First of all if you're gonna read this manga you might want to have at least a small understanding of what a Telekura is, in short, it's a place you go and enter a phone booth to talk to a girl willing to go on a date with you. And that's what this manga is about... but only in parts, the Telekura thing is just the premisse for the stories Sexy Voice (the MC) goes through, sometimes accompanied of her sidekick Robo who is a
...
random nerdy guy she meets. Each chapter is a different story involving the MC and her great ears, more than just listening to some lonely guy tears, Sexy Voice has a great hearing capacity, she can discern voices in a crowd and remember every voice she's talked to, leading to the most exquisite settings. The art on this one is marvelous it might not be considerated pretty for the mainstream audience but it has a sense of style that i think it's lacking on most nowadays manga, perhaps it's some french albuns influences, it also remind me a little bit of Taiyo Matsumoto drawings so it's great.

This is a really strange one because of it's theme, it's about a guy who inherits its family business, making charcoal on the mountains of Japan, it's not a easy task cutting trees, taking them to the furnace and getting the temperature right and so on.... More than hard, it seems like a very boring work to do, just like this manga, it's boring as hell! I consider myself a boring person who likes boring things - like reading a manga about a charcoal maker maybe - but even so i found this kinda of really tedious, nothing happens at all it's just
...
the everyday struggles of the MC and i know it's supposed to be that and nothing else but still i dont know something's missing for this one.
The drawings are ok there's nothing much to talk about it, nothing outstanding but it has a bit of the author style i guess so that's a good thing. For the plot... well it is what it is huh.

Well i really really hate zombies, i mean, not the creatures they're alright, what i do hate is the "zombie theme" i don't know i think it's overexplored on any media since walking dead came out. Still, this manga here is super great, even though the zombies here being most likely similar to others you've seen, the storytelling is different of any other, after all this is not a common manga, the artwork is childish and for the plot isn't much there at all honestly, but i had great fun with it, it's really funny most of the time, even tough the drawings are bad
...
i like them, i love when manga goes to a more leftfield way. If you like gekiga or stupid comics you'll love it
