This anime is surprisingly good in a way I didn't expect it to be.

In term of story, It don't have an overarching story and nothing major happens because it doesn't has to. It's just a slice of life in it purest sense.
The plot summary can be describe briefly as "Anne and Grea are student of magic school and they are flirting in every episodes".

Characters so far don't have any development at all which is fine , again, it doesn't has to. Because the two main characters have a great chemistry between them and that's sort off the point of this anime, that's why I don't ... think development is necessary.

Disclaimer : I myself is a yuri fan but I still try to interpret characters relationship with objective standpoint. And objectively speaking, Grea and Anne are pretty gay. I'm pretty sure straight people don't act like that toward their friends.

The thing that I like about the two main character's relationship is that, they are pretty gay but it's not in-your-face level. it's not even shoujo ai level of gayness. Because romance isn't the main focus, so why bother slam yuri to the audience's face. Right ?

The art style is stunningly beautiful. All the scenery got details and texture to them, the color toning is appropriate to overall mood of each scenes. There's nothing jumping out or distracting. And the character drawn and animated beautifully, not overly "moe" or anything.

The soundtrack got a decent amount of details and fit in smoothly with the scenes and the voice acting is decent.

Every technical aspects of this anime are outstanding and don't have any flaws but also didn't exceed very far. That's why I give it a 9/10.

I gonna start this review by saying "I FRICKING LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!" for the same reasons that I love "Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni" so much. The reasons being "IT"S PRETTY BAD" but it's "NOT BORING".

In this review, I gonna focus on a good part of the show because I don't see a point of taking this show seriously anyway. If you want to know about the in-dept analysis of the bad part then just read any reviews beside this one.

I rate this anime 4.5/10 in term ... of quality but that number does not reflect my enjoyment of it because I do enjoy this anime a lot.

Here's the reasons why.

Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria is a generic-not so generic Isekai anime. Because most of the characters traits and settings is extremely generic but There's something interesting about it.

First is the main character "Yuuto". Who couldn't fight at all but he use his "solar power smartphone" to google things for his advantage via what I call a "Holy wifi hotspot" that sits in his throne room and his girlfriend's room(?) I guess.....
And he isn't that dense so he's not irritates me like some other harem protagonist.

Second is the art style. It's not what I would call good.
But I do like some details in it ,like the fact that the infantry has decent looking helmets, shields ,spears equipped instead of some stupid "costume armor". Granted, It's not historically accurate but at least they try. The infantry even use sword as a sidearm instead of main weapon like some other show.

Third is the characters has a proper goal. Yuuto wants to get back to his girlfriend. The girls want him. Again, It's not much but at least it's something.
The harem love him because in their point of views, he done a great favor for them and he is a brilliant mind. And he did express his feeling that he's only love his girlfriend.

Finally, This anime "makes sense" of non sense in a way. For example, Yuuto said something like "The superpower in some people makes no goddamn sense." and other characters basically said "That's how it is, deal with it fam." (Obviously, This is not what they said but I can't be bother to check the actual script.)
And there's a scene when one of the main character use a katana cut right through a thick bronze dagger. Which seems to makes no sense but the katana's edge with hamon can be hardening up to 62+ HRC and bronze's edge can be harden up to around 44 HRC by hammering the edge. Normally you can't cut through that even with that different hardness but they establish that superpower did exist so it kinda makes sense?

Watching this anime is very entertaining despite it's obvious flaws. It's not as bad as "Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni" but it's equally entertaining.

I highly recommend this anime but please go into it with the same mindset like when you watching "The room (2003)" or "Shark Exorcist (2015)". This is not a good anime by any means but I'm sure you'll enjoy it with the a certain mindset.
Maybe consider drink 6 shots of vodka before watching it (If you not a minor of course).

This is my first time writing an anime review but I hope you found this review helpful.

I give this anime quality rating 2/10 but the enjoyment I get out of it is a solid 8/10.

Hear me out.
When you watch this show, you shouldn't go in with the mindset "This is a bad anime." but rather "This is gonna be so bad and I should laugh about it." because this is not a "conventional anime" but rather "So bad that it's good kind of show."

If you ever watch movie like The room,Troll 2 or Fateful Findings and you enjoy those type of movie, you going ... to enjoy this anime.

This anime contains following quality:
One-dimensional and hollow characters, odd pacing, super plain soundtrack , non-funny comedy, generic art style, tons of cliché, poorly written script, generic fan service and annoying mascot.

And finally.
The story is non-sense, laughable and so predictable.
In fact , It is so predictable that I can tell what is going to happen in next 2 episodes when I'm watching it.

Despite all of that, I still enjoy watching it and laugh for how bad it is.
It's not boring at all. I can say that this is one of my favorite guilty pleasure.

I give this anime a 2/10 rating because how bad it is and I couldn't bring myself to give it better score even though I enjoy this show so much.

Finally, I think this show teach you what a bad anime really is and it's help you appreciate good anime even more.
