Both seem to be set around the same time period. Both main characters' parents died when they were just children, thus making them take on the role of head of their noble family. They are both earls and are taken care of by butlers who have made a promise to always be by their side. Both are very dark and have beautiful artwork. I had read Kuroshtsuji first, and when I read Godchild I thought to myself, "Wow, this has a lot in common to Kuroshitsuji in terms of main characters"
