While I did enjoy the action and the animation this was a pretty average first season for a Shonen series.

To me, it seems like the story is a mix between Blue Exorcist and Fire Force with hints of One Punch Man in the sense that there are bad guys coming out of who knows where and our MC and team have to defeat them. One of the Main issues I have is that although the Kaiju keeping coming there's no media coverage, the characters aren't questioning why this is happening or where they're coming from. They just mindlessly keep fighting.

The other issue I ... have is that our MC literally starts the show in a clean up position and then quickly becomes the main cause of major messes as he blows enemies up and splatters them all over the place. On top of that, we never see a clean up crew again. You would think he'd have a bit more regard for keeping the area contained and damage to a minimum with his background.

And to add to that point, where are the civilians? Every time there's a kaiju the scene is already magically evacuated.

And then one of the characters has a tiger for no reason that was explained either.

It's a promising watch as I think the second season will definitely deliver more and hopefully touch on at least where these kaiju are coming from but I'm going to say this season was just fine.

I Got A Cheat Skill In Another World and Became Unrivaled In The Real World Too.... is below average honestly. I didn't go into the anime with high expectations but after getting as far as I have it's safe to say that the show fell very hard from where I was initially going to rate it.

There is some level of "world-building" but not until over half way through the season/cour. As the series progressed it only became more and more trashy with over the top fan-service and the supporting cast starts to feel out of place and useless.

The title of the anime definitely is ... what sucked me into it and watching it early on made me get invested into how our MC was going to balance his life within each world but honestly, the whole "unrivaled" in the real world part feels totally out of place. Nobody is actually actively TRYING to rival our MC in the real world. There are no threats and no stakes. There's not even any consequences for him at all so far in either world really. Everything just works out for him and he barely puts up an actual fight.

It's okay to lean more towards being a slice of life feeling anime but for what the early episodes set you up for it takes an entirely weird direction.

Big L. Do not recommend at all.

In the first few episodes I could see how most would discontinue watching. At first, the show does nothing particularly special and feels very slice of life-ish but once the character introductions are out of the way we are dropped into an interesting turn of events (that I will not spoil).

By far, the best part of this show is the cast. The characters are the bread and butter to this series. It delivers on the comedy but also has moments where you just sit in awe by the resolve and gall of some of these characters.

The animation is fine. Nothing to write home about but ... it works perfectly for the show. A lot of the action scenes do have a nice flow and feel to them.

All in all, this is yet another isekai but I believe as we get deeper into the plot it will become something special in the genre.

Do not go into watching this show expecting it to be a ground-breaking, revolutionary romance. At its core it does one thing and does that one thing well which is to give you two characters that build a romantic connection with each other through a series of coincidental interactions.

The show does allude to underlying drama with one of our MCs but it leans much more to the romance side and almost seems like that drama is pushed aside and forgotten. Other than that there really isn't anything particularly special.

This show is pure wholesomeness and feels like a well needed breather from all of the shounen, ... isekai, and rom-coms that have been releasing as of late. So if you are a fan of wholesomeness I highly recommend.

BUT, if I'm being completely honest here, the show is extremely boring and the majority of it is set inside MC's apartment. Literally, the majority of the show is just our 2 MCs sitting on a couch talking and patting each other's head and leaning their heads on each other. The writing feels so stale as you don't even really become engaged in their conversations and interactions because of how unrealistic they sound (both voice and dialogue).

It had a decent start but with no new developments even late in the second half... eh.

I read these two chapters as a single one-shot and it just works! Honestly, even if you haven't read or watched Hunter x Hunter and you aren't familiar with Kurapika, the way the story is set up allows it to be an easy and enjoyable read.

At it's core it is a tried and true story of a group of people different from the rest of the world who live a very fragile lifestyle to maintain the peace they hold onto. Of course, curiosity and the restrictive ways of monotony get the best of our MC and thus creates the tension leading up to certain fateful ... events.

The story, art, and characters are all solid for such a short read. If anything I almost wish it had just one more chapter to flesh out a couple of characters a bit or to show a bit more of what happens post the unspeakable actions that took place.
