This is not a romance, yuri, or anything of the sort. This is very much a psychological horror and I don't think people understand this. This is a story about grooming, pedophilia, trauma, murder, sexual assault, and so many other things.

It is in the perspective of Satou and so at times it seems pretty and a great romantic relationship, but if you look at this objectively and if you have any sort of morals you can see how fucked up this show is and how terrifying it is. At points you will find yourself rooting for the main character but then realize this isn't ok ... and makes you question if the main character is effecting you. The horror of this show is truely terrifying and shows apart of our world that people don't like to look at. While going through it, you can't tell who the good guy is, you can only hope for the best out come for Shio but there is truely no good outcome. Just like in real life children of abuse and grooming won't recognize it and will only start to see as they get older or maybe never see it if they are never taught what was wrong.

(SPOILER WARNING SKIP TO CONCLUSION IF TRYING TO AVOID)

The most terrific part of this story was how we saw Shio alive, and how she was grateful and still loved Satou. We can't expect her to understand anything that just happened to her, but Asahi's reaction was definitely some sort of representation for the audience and someone who was to see this story outside of Satou's perspective would've seen the end.

People claim this show to be fetishism or lolicon, but it truely isn't. It is from the perspective of a groomer and we are supposed to question the show and be conflicted but at the end of the day, know that Satou is in the wrong and Shio is a victim. The fluffy sparkles and cutesy songs are all supposed to further push Satou's own view of things. In the manga it is a lot more noticeable, with how outside the panels the paper looks like it is burning and getting darker and darker when things that Satou views as romantic show up, but the author tells us that it isn't, and we are seeing the distorted and fucked up version of reality from a fucking psychopath.

If you like psychological horror or find anything I just said interesting, watch it. Even if you read the spoilers, the show is still filled with disturbing and great plots inbetween.

I think that this was the best adaptation of Junji Ito's works! Most of the artsyle was able to translate and I think it is a great way for anybody new to Ito's work to get into them!

Ofcourse I think the manga is better, that is just a given as it translates better in manga than anime with the horror he potrays but I think this is a great and much more affordable way to enjoy quite a bit of his short stories.

The sound track and voice actors were amazing! The 2d animation was aswell! The only critique I would have about it is ... the 3d animation, it doesn't seem to be the animators main skill and it didn't look the best but it wasn't used too often so I can put that aside.

Last critique I'll give it, is the story pacing, although it mostly does the originals justice, it isn't the best with the pacing and seems a bit fast pace compared to the originals to me. All in all though this is a great adaptation and I mostly loved the Soichi parts, would love to see a comedy come from that lol.

Ok listen, it has great animation, good character and monster design, good voice acting, a killer soundtrack and a pretty good story (the end of the story was uhhh weird and definitely made for a certain audience) but I rated it low cause it is just rape porn!!! Omfg if only it was an actual series that wasn't just fucking rape hentai man. I watched it with a friend and we loved the story and REALLY liked the animation and soundtrack but omfg it was almost all porn and rape...

I guess we should've known from the first scene being a ... sex scene/set up for one but we gave it a benefit of a doubt cause some movies have this and it was rather tame and there was a sick fucking scene with gore and shit and loved it. The story is a really cool plot between two world and the only thing keeping them at peace is a treaty that needs to be renewed and the main character is a body guard for the person renewing it, the old dude is a pervert and a pos but not surprising with knowing what it is now. But as it keeps going, rape scenes and weird sex scenes with the ending being in heaven or some shit with a tentacles monster and we find out the body guards (op and love intrest) are supposed to have a baby to save the world ig. The story set up was great but they ruined it with some weird forced relationship and pregnancy and a whole lot of porn.

I really wish I could like this more but I have a bunch of mixed feelings. I love how miku falls into obsession and would've loved to see it be expanded upon, the set up for everthing and Luka's and KAITO's relationship with eachother, but that's where my praise ends. The ending was heavily rushed and them just accepting Miku back into everything and her just going back to normal is just too 'perfect'. It just isn't realistic at all and what enrages me is when Miku basically r*ped KAITO. And how KAITO basically brushes it off along with him telling Luka that he "made ... love to Miku" basically saying it was all consentual and totally not like she forced him by saying she'll off herself and Luka if he doesn't!!! I love how the story fell and it could be realistic that KAITO brushes it off or blames himself as victims can be confused about things and the author could've commentated on r*pe culture and how males are viewed with SA especially in a culture like in Japan's, but it just seems as if it is ok and not at all a problem. The way they accept Miku and she returns to normal after a vision of her younger self after she stabs KAITO then herself is totally unrealistic and can give a false narrative to the reader that mental health issues like this can be solved on your own and can be completely gotten rid of once identified with no lasting impact it seems considering how the ending is basically a mirror of the start, basically saying nothing changed at all??? Ngl if I was Luka or KAITO I would be terrified of Miku afterwards and wouldn't want to be around her any more cause she LITERALLY TRIED TO KILL THEM AND R*PED KAITO WTF??? I wish this wasn't how it played about cause I thought the author had a great premise and story that could've been used really well, I just wish it was used better.
