Refreshing movie about a sentient AI, born from a corporation experiment. The doctor, creator of this AI, is the mother of the co-protagonist, a high school girl that wants to have friends. The story will evolve around her uniting with new and old friends thanks to the AI that is currently a high school student. The errands of this odd group brings nostalgia of the good old days at high school and open a profound question about our future as species evolving with machines.
Great soundtrack and even if musical is not my thing it wasn’t overused and the music and songs were very nice.
Great
...
movie to see if you want to feel good, I’d recommend with your sweet half.

-Sorry for the English is not my native language-
-Spoilers-
-What a fantastic ride-
*More of a stream of consciousness that reflects what I feel after finishing it*
The character are so good, Shin remembers me a lot of Shinji from Evangelion but also Eren from Attack on Titan, the side characters are absolutely great, they are important ! (and this is not a trivial matter given the state of anime nowadays where side characters are mere shadows without any solid story), they try to balance Shin plus they each have their own particular journey and specialty.
The commentaries episodes weren't that great for me because even if the idea
...
was very original they could have achieved perfection by using different completely different scenes rather then repeating the previous episodes. Regarding the edit, damn S01 was absolutely well crafted, first we have Handler 1 then, initially, the side story of the 86 that slowly gain more space and importance, from mere "nicknames" on a screen to "real people", here the edit was fantastic, first part with Handler then cut, ending, then 86 part then another small piece; there are no empty nor useless recaps nor previews of the next episode (these parts really annoy me but I understand their use) just the name spelled by a different characters. And damn they really know the meaning of cliffhangers... The greatest edit was the cut between Shin and Eugen when they met in the dining room and exchange ideas and Eugen love for his sister and then when they salute each other BAM cut with the hand of Eugen holding his sister picture.. Absolutely dramatic and strong.
One thing that I didn't quite like was the ending of S02, I totally understand it from a Japanese culture point of view, the absence of physical contact or the "occidental kiss" but come on ! You have finally Handler 1 in front of you and make all that melodramatic dialogue, which was very cool and it built up a lot of pathos but then the last episode when they finally meet face to face they don't even hug or kiss ? For me a wasted opportunity.
The fight scenes are absolutely entertaining, great visual and sound effects plus original design and the aspect I absolutely love in a series "the reality of war", although we have a lot of "saved on the last second" we also have a lot of brutal casualties that build up the hate and resentment towards the legion and the affection and pity towards the 86.
It's absolutely one of my favorite anime of all time now, what a wild ride

Skip the anime and read the manga (explanation below in the new review)
Old review (spoilers)
“Nakama powers”: in every situation even where it could be really cool that the story goes sideways, that suspence where your favourite heroes are losing and maybe they can ! But having always the nakama powers saving the day is really shallow, poor story choice and disappointing. Characters development is non existent or where there’s a “growth” is forced and really childish. There are dialogues that are so repetitive, always the same lines “I’m strong, I miss my little sister, I’m hungry, I want girls…” after 40 episodes we got that
...
each character has a particular trait, repeating it every time like in a child show is underwhelming. There’s no mystery whatsoever maybe at the start of the anime but I swear at episodes 20 you pretty much got the whole story, there are so many evident clues and things that characters openly say that spoiler the next episode.
Nevertheless I wouldn’t recommend this mediocrity to anyone, watch other gems instead, look at the top anime, go outside your comfort zone and watch something that isn’t your genre, there are such masterpieces like the Ping Pong anime, gems like Sonny Boy and so much more ! Explore and if you don’t have anything else read, listen to music, to an audiobook to a cool conference etc. Expand your horizon and don’t stay on the same page !
Long live to anime
New review (spoilers)
Having endured the entirety of the series I have to say that it had quite the surprise, the last fight against the Demon and the following Heart Kingdom saga were indeed very cool, the animation slightly better and the characters power were developed thanks to their training. I have to say that the animation in particular the fight scene was nowhere near good, of course there were a few moments really well done (especially Asta against the demon and the commanders "battle royale") but on the other hand you see such shallow and empty fight scenes (even important ones) with no regards to the surrounding areas, same level of destruction, goody movement transition (meaning the level of detail, smoothness and special effects in the characters and their attacks). There is still a huge, huge plot armor thanks to "nakama power" / "if I think about my nakama I get stronger and even if I'm dead I'll be able to defeat my opponent no matter what. Despite all of this I was pleasantly surprise about the last arch but it was absolutely not worth it for all the hundreds of episodes I had to swallow (my fault that I get very stubborn about finishing something).
Then I got even more curious about the story because the anime finishes with a strong cliffhanger, and guys believe me, read the manga, it's totally worth it and I could say just skip watching the anime and use it only to watch some fight scenes. The drawings are really well done, good dialogues and use of space (especially the double pages are visually stunning). Overall such a wasted opportunity because the original design and visual in the manga are really well done, if only the anime was done by Bones ...

NO SPOILERS
Few times I’ve watched a story that had such potential and delivered such a overall disappointment from character building, animation, story, fights (and combat systems), in short rather watch other isekai masterpieces such as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime or my absolute favourite and overall gem Mushoku Tensei - Jobless Reincarnation.
Every piece of this story is so predictable, literally every choice, character development, fight, big event etc. You instantly know how it’s going to resolve after a few episodes. The dialogues seems to lack any effort because are boring, lack structure, timing, mistery, excitement and when necessary fear, anxiety.
It’s kind
...
of a bad game translated into an anime but washed away from all the possible (and even minor) violence and death that inevitably could happen in an adventure and that it keeps you on your seats for the fate of your favourite characters: what’s the appeal or emotion in knowing that there won’t be any real danger, that there always be a last minute save or that whatever happens the hero is always regarded as “hero sama”.
——————
SPOILERS
Everything is poorly executed, the initial choice of having a slave as a subordinate could have developed so many interesting and complex dynamics, instead all we have is a furry female warrior adoring his hero sama, same script for whatever female companion (always semi human with the exception of the princess for a short time) he encounters. The protagonist, I don’t even bother trying to remember the name, is shallow, lack any depth or emotional complexity, there’s a real chance to have a very interesting “evil” inside the hero, completely wasted because without any real consequences.
The battles seems those cheap mobile games where you have to blast your attacks through hordes of slightly different evil monsters, but our hero is different ! He has a shield, not a sword, not a bow or spear, a shield ! This is the main surprise factor in this anime and I was genuinely curious about it. For whatever reason he cannot throw the shield nor using it in other ways despite crafting things and summoning a giant medieval torture spiked coffin. I mean for the love of god you could have just watched some fantasy adventure gameplay to see how effectively you can grow and develop a weapon, esoteric crafting, the mistery behind its origin and the various quest to search its meaning, creative way to transform the shield into different parts of the armour, fusing it with other weapons and so on.
I don’t even want to waste any more time on writing about the main antagonist, a spoiled female warrior who happens to be the princess (she’s the older one but she’s won’t be the queen for her attitude so the younger one is the next in line but she has less power over his father but it’s a monarchy …… ……. …… ) who happens to hate the shield hero and thus the real core, the essence of all our beloved hero misadventures.
What a waste of time, please please give yourself a chance to watch something worth like the above anime or other fantasy, adventure masterpieces such as Berserk, use the chart, search for other recommendations on Reddit, generally don’t follow the “must watch” articles until you have 2 or 3 more examples.
