Real talk, I'm a huge fan of Inuyasha. I grew up with it and loved it to death, but Yashahime has absolutely killed my experience. I'm at the point now where I warn friends who want to get into Inuyasha to not even touch this sequel. Its only saving grace is Moroha, but even then it's not enough to keep me watching.

Don't watch the special for this and just read the manga instead lol. You will save yourself SO much boredom. Of course, it has the same ridiculousness you'd expect of Heroes, but everything is much more fleshed out, explained, and less rushed. It's not perfect and is still an advertisement, but you kinda get the added bonus of seeing Nagayama's art improve, but that's really a fun feature of reading Ankoku Makai, to Universe Mission, to Big Bang Mission.
The characters are still a tad flat, but more of their personality is shown than the snippets you get in the anime and arcade game. Also this ... Feb 22, 2021
Full honesty, just read this instead of watching the anime. There's more flavor to the overall story and more interesting things instead of a rushed commercial. Granted, it's like, still a commercial for an arcade game but the writing is a tad better here. Plus, you get the added bonus of seeing Nagayama's art improve as you go.
Of course, the characters are still a little flat, as would be typical of something meant to advertise games that are being sold, but at least they're a bit less shallow than what the anime offers. If anything, this is something you have to go into with ... |
