Docchi ni Suru?

Very similar. I actually thought Docchini Suru was the same story as Boku wa Onicchan (I Am Big Brother) until the second chapter. Both have a ordinary guy who's friends with two popular-hot guys. Both friends (or brothers in Boku wa Oniichan's case) love and lust after the MC in a very over-the-top complex way. Both flirt ridiculously with the MC daily to the point where the MC thinks it's normal behaviour. Both stories conclude with the two popular guys confessing the MC and him having to choose. The comedy, romance and general scenes are very similar. Trust me, if you liked one then you will liked the other...except I felt that Docchi ni Suru didn't have a good ending and had less drama apposed to Boku wa Oniichan. In my opinion, Boku wa Onicchan (I Am Big Brother) is the best of the two.

They both have giant robots that are special or unique. They both have a very solemn, monotone, cold main character who are able to drive the robots better than anyone else. Both have a princess from Mars who comes to Earth for political reasons. Both have people who are trying to kill or capture the princess for political reasons. There's war related history and events. People die. People fight. Both have many characters from all different backgrounds that some how add to the story. Seriously, there are both so similar I'm surprised no one had already suggested them.

The ONLY similarities are around the heirs of the yakuza groups. Gotouda Aki, from Like A Beast, and Tohru, from Started With A Kiss, are both gorgeous feminine looking men that all the groups members pine after. They are the groups own idols and everyone loves and worships them. Everything else between the two mangas are completely different.

Boku Girl
|
How could they not be similar?! Both are stories about a boy who is turned into a girl by some fantasy element: in "Boku Girl", it's from a bored God. In "Sekainohate de Aimashou", it's from a Alien Prince. Both involve a lot of panty shots and ecchi scenes with the now girls learning how to dress, act, bath and be women. Most of the panels are questionable actions of either falling on top of people, accidental gropings, gusts of wind flashing underwear, clothing being ripped, bathhouse scenes, etc, all fuel for the nose-bleeds. While "Sekainohate de Aimashou" has more of a story, as such, "Boku Girl" is a little bit more straight forward and has less drama and action. Also in "Sekainohate de Aimashou", everyone knows he's was changed to a girl. Where in "Boku Girl", they are trying to keep it a secret. Both have very similar art: clean lines, shading and panels, fresh and modern designs, cute plump-looking girls with big eyes and slender features. Although, the men in "Boku Girl" are more masculine compared to the men in "Sekainohate de Aimashou". These are so similar that if you like one, you will definitely like the other. Guaranteed.

Both have sketchy, loose art that is very appealing. Both are reasonably light romances that have some emotional or deep issues beneath the surface, nothing too dramatic, but it does steer away from the sugar-sweet romance. Both also have odd stories around aloof or different characters. Both also have simple plots and events, however, stories that you wouldn't normally read about or have read before. I recommend for light romance and simple events that leave you feeling warm-hearted even though there were some emotional issues addressed.

The only similarities I can say is the over all feelings revolving around the bitter-sweet romance. Also, the random plot events: the way the characters find each other or fall in love; subtle romance found by odd ways. Both leave you with a smile, even though some events were a little emotional.

The gore and horror themes are very similar, more so in Drops of Desire (Yokubou no Shizuku). Both are about humans who are either hosts for demons, or are demons/monsters themselves. Drops of Desire is way more smutty than Sweet Pool, with sex at nearly every turn. It also has tentacle and werewolf kinks. Both also have rape scenes or forced sex. The art is similar. Very detailed with tall lanky characters, dark shades and tones, explicit sex details (sometimes), and the gore. Sweet Pool is a longer more drawn out story that's based around a visual novel, where Drops of Desire is a stand alone volume that is designed to deliver smut.

Both are based around a bunch of people all living together as they act like a little family. The chapters are broken up into small arcs about the different characters, who live in the house/units, and their relationships. "Kibun wa Joujou!" is smuttier and straight to the point, where as "Heart no Kakurega" takes it's time and is more enduring.

The second arc of "Wolf Magic" (Ookami wa Mahou wo) reminds me of "Sayonara, Itoshi no My Friend". There are no similarities with the characters personalities, story settings or uke/semes, but I found that they are similar because of the plot structure. The noisy/popular guy pushes his friendship onto the quiet/aloof guy and eventually falls in love with him but can't break through his naive shell to get him to understand his feelings. In both, the spacey/quiet characters slowly figure out that they like the noisy guy after they stop spending time with them, due to the noisy guy cutting of their friendship because of his suspected one-sided feelings getting hurt. "Wolf Magic" has darker emotional drama compared to "Sayonara, Itoshi no My Friend", where the noisy/popular guy, Nagase, has some emotional history around his sexually where in "Sayonara, Itoshi no My Friend", neither persons were gay to begin with. The art is also clean, fresh and modern in both mangas and very appealing.

The first arc of "Wolf Magic" (ookamu wa Mahou wa) called "The Water of Love For the Withered Flower" is about a guy who has a stern face and works in a florist. He has a tough attitude and appearance that scares anyone who doesn't know him. He is also an aloof character, similar to Haruhiko from "Markai Darling", however, Haruhiko is more of a pervert than a distant character like Hanasaki. Both stories are based around people who work in a florist. Both also having pairings between a older manager and the younger assistant/customer/friend. The differences are that in Markai Darling, Haruhiko knows that he wants Takashi and forces his love onto him where in "Wolf Magic" it's the other way around; Hata (the customer) forces his feelings onto Hanasaki (the florist manager). Both are nice stories with some mild drama, comedy and romance. Both also have nice fresh art that is appealing.

The similarities are the relationships between the young girl and the older male(s): the guys have to protect the girl, because she is important, and while they spend time together a bond grows. Because of the age gap the men brush off the girl's love for admiration but the young girls both insist they love them. All other aspects of the shows are unrelated.

The only similarities between Second Honey and Mister Convenience is the art. Both are realistic portraits towards men and body structures, and even though the art was very clean with solid shading and lines, it stills portray a level of sketchy-sloppiness with each scene. I also found the character designs were very similar, with long haired characters who are lanky but manly. Really, I would compare any of Shiwo and Aniya Yuiji's works to each other.

I feel that both ukes are the same: both have deep emotional issues that stop them from falling in love and they both hide their true feelings by putting on a false front. Both seme's end up falling for the ukes and get dragged along, not releasing the depths of their problems, until they are pushed to their limits and run away. To Sow a Seed (Tane wo Maku Hito) is a little more serious and has no love-scenes, where Eternal July is quiet smutty and more easy on the feels. The art is also similar between the two, where the ukes are gorgeous people who flaunt their looks and both semes are normal white collar workers.

Ouji no Hakoniwa (Miniature Garden) and the first arc of Second Honey are both stories involve rich kids who's are losers as young adults and have the secretary/butler always cleaning up after them. In reality, the kids are just lonely and to hide their emotions they become useless people who act cheeky, are blunt, sleep around and are unmotivated at achieving. Both the secretary and the butler are the quiet stereotypical type who do anything their masters say, except something that will go against their well-being. Although, Miniature Garden is a case of Stockholm Symdrome, where the kid is held against his will, where in Second Honey the secretary follows the kid's father's orders to push him to finish collage. All other arcs are not related or similar.

Both are slow paced romances, like really slow. Both are two volumes long where nothing really gets going until the second volume. Even though they are very slow paced, they are both still very intriguing. This plays more on the 'moe' scenes and cute romance, more than smutty sex. If you're after a heart warming BL either of these will suit. Both are also based around high school boys who play baseball; mainly targeting around the sport and the character's interactions, future responsibilities and life goals.

The arc "First Love", from Borderline, is similar to Dekiai Rule. In both stories, there's a student x teacher pairing where the student has a one-sided love for the teacher and forces himself onto them, thinking this is what love is, only to realise that love it not just about sex, and with time and patience comes acceptance and eventually love. In both, the student tries many times to convince the teacher to sleep with them and is rejected. Both have dark undertones within the plot; suffering with one's self and facing their fears. Another similarity is the art; amazing clean lines, crisp shading, attractive character designs and panel layouts.
