Maybe it’s a little early to write a review, having just three episode aired, but I need to share how good it felt from the start!! As people should know by now, the story of Anne doesn’t have big enemies or mind blowing fights and plot twists, it’s this chill gorgeous coming of age ride of this bright, imaginative girl. I’m loving the storytelling, more focused on Anne's point of view as subtlety showing how fast the talkative girl brings color to peoples lives.
(Before my first Anne of the Green Gables adaptation, I didn't not really knowing what the story was about and always
...
thought I would hate such a bright optimistic main character. But you just can't help but to care and cheer for her.)
It’s a bold decision to retell a story so widely known and loved. Having the first anime adaptation in 1979 being directed by none less than Isao Takahata, one of the genius directors of Studio Ghibli, known for Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Kaguya and many more.
But, boy, they are doing it well!
Modern coloring, lighting, shading and movement, beautiful backgrounds and landscapes, nice new character design, creative shot choices, the perfect performance of the voice actors, everything is well executed and just warms my heart (even some little changes in the personality os some characters).
The first three episodes were a beautiful start and I think we just got the chill, pretty, heartwarming Shoujo of the season we all wanted and needed. And I hope they get to adapt the whole story!
