The first thing that must be said is that the author indicates on the first page "This is not a hentai manga, rather an erotic manga for the thinking mind. It is a compass of love and sex, a reference dedicated to all the readers who seek the ultimate pleasure in life. This is for real I am not lying..." This is important to indicate because if one were to just skim through a couple of pages they might assume otherwise.
That being said Futari Ecchi can be called a love bible, a how to guide for dummies, or Manga Sutra. That's not to say that
...
it is purely about sex. Futari Ecchi in essence, is a psychological, sociological, scientific, and medical, examination of human relationships and the ways in which sexual interactions plays a role in said relationships.
For those of you reading this thinking that you are already a sex expert; I guarantee that you will learn something from this manga, regardless of your degree of sexual experience.
The story is definitely one of the strong points that makes the whole thing work. It's about a man and a woman who meet through an omiai (match making session) and fall in love. The catch here is that they are both virgins, but are too shy to tell each other at first. The entire story is presented in the form of a romantic comedy which keeps the story lighthearted and enjoyable. Once they tell each other that they both have never had sex before, they decide that they will learn about sex together. What makes this so extraordinary is that it gives the reader an opportunity to learn more about relationships and sex as the characters do.
The psychological effects relationships have on individuals is thoroughly examined. The repercussions of adultery are explored (don't worry the main characters never commit adultery). The reasons for sexual fantasies in men, symbolism in dreams, and the reasons why women tend to prefer to have a certain level of intimacy before sex are all looked at from varying perspectives.
By sociological I mean, graphs, charts, figures, and statistics are habitually given to inform the reader about the differing ways in which men and women view relationships. These statistics are made to fit into the current situation the characters are facing. These range from what men and women think is necessary in a successful marriage to preferred sex positions. What makes these statistical studies even more interesting is that the author actually cites his sources in the manga. Of course since the manga began in 1997, you have to take some of the data with a grain of salt as it may no longer apply. Also about 90% of the statistical data applies only to Japanese people as they made up the groups who were surveyed. The remaining 10% is data acquired from surveys of Americans which makes for an interesting read as the Japanese data is contrasted to the American data.
Now scientific and medical might sound strange, but it is true in more ways than one. The author goes in depth in informing the reader about the differences in morphologies of sex organs for different individuals, and the advantages and disadvantages these differing morphologies have on sex. The hormones of men and women are also discussed and their effects on both sexes are also a reoccurring topic.
Thus far I have neglected to mention that there are numerous sex scenes in Futari Ecchi, though nothing immediately below the waste is shown (at most you will see a banana, literally). These scenes serve two main purposes in the manga. 1) To show the love, affection, and intimacy between our protagonists (which actually comes off as very sweet and innocent). 2) To inform the reader about sexual positions and convenient ways to transition between these position (which for some, might come in handy).
It is important to note that about 70% of Futari Ecchi is advice for men about women, which is probably why there is another version called Futari Ecchi for ladies.
All in all, the balance of lighthearted story telling plus the enlightening information about relationships makes Futari Ecchi one of the most unique mangas ever written. Most adults would definitely enjoy reading this manga.

Someone buy me a gun so I can just shoot myself. Having to live in a world in which this anime exists is just torture.
Story: The story... well I only watched the first 10 episodes, but based on those episode I could not ascertain what the story was. I guess the actual story does not begin to develop until episode 11+. And let me clarify, the synopsis that MyAnimeList provides, describe the setting more than the actual story. The first episodes were used more for setting character development instead of story development.
There are too many episodes where nothing happens and they just talk for the
...
full 20mins (Example: ep. 2 and 3). It made the show quite boring for me. Now I watch animes from all genres, not just action adventure, but the talking in Simoun is just unbearably dull.
Art: Now the art is pretty good, being a fairly recent anime and all. The people look kind of strange at first (I think it's their eyes), but you get used to it quick enough.
Sound: Okay, I hated the music. I don't know why the other reviewers loved it so much. The intro song is pretty good. I admit that, but the background music the plays as the show progresses is horrible. You have a Science-Fiction setting with laser and explosions occurring, but in the background there is this laid back music played entirely with classical instruments like the violin and piano. (And I'm not talking cool classical like Beethoven's 5th or the Tifa fight in Advent Children, I'm talking about boring crap like the music in the video game Eternal Sonata).
Charaters: I don't mean this to be sexist, but Simoun reinforces the archaic ideal that women should not be soldiers. During each of the battles, there is always some woman/girl who gets emotional over nothing, which almost compromises the battle.
As a side note during each and every battle the same thing will happen. Someone will say "there are too many of them." And then someone else will say we have to use our special attack (cant remember what it was called), and then they win. It's sooooooooooooooo repetative.
I can honestly say this is not a show worth your time. I WASTED 3 HOURS OF MY LIFE BANDAI, AND I WANT THEM BACK!!

Based on the title, the genre listed, the badass looking dude with the black wings, and the first 30 seconds of this anime, I assumed this was going to be some kind of action adventure anime. You know, kind of like Shakugan no Shana, Inuyasha, or maybe even Outlaw Star. Just something with fighting + romance. Unexpectedly, it was not. D.N.Angel is really more of a romance shojo (more on the girly side) anime. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just not what I expected, so if you're not a shoujo fan, you might want to consider skipping this anime.
Story - Quite different from
...
your usual anime stories. But the individual episodes are very romance and/or drama driven. So depending on your taste, this might be a deciding factor for you. The action is either lame or non-existent in all of the episodes. It is terrible. Its worse than Inuyasha, where they do generic sword slashes, with nothing to individuate it from other animes. (I would consider good action to be Samurai Champloo, Samurai X, or Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann).
Art - I gave art a 6 because it is okay, but considering the year this anime was made (2003), the art is rather crappy. It looks like it was made in 1998. I mean Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star look just as good, or maybe even better than D.N.Angel. Oh and the picture they use for this anime on MyAnimeList, looks way better than the actual show itself. FALSE ADVERTISING! On the positive side, some of the episodes are written and directed quite well. A few episodes are quite poetic using visuals instead of vocals to tell the stories.
Sound - Sound, what sound?! Well to be honest, there probably is sound, it just isn't memorable enough for me to recall it. And the opening song sucks. It's slow and boring. I mean there are plenty of romance animes with great opening like Onegai teacher/twins, but this one is terrible.
Character - The main character is another one of those... I am nicer than it is humanly possible to be guys. This generic anime type character gets old after you have watched a lot of anime. I mean, if your as nice as some of these guys are, you would not be able to survive in today's world. It's a ruthless place out there, and I am sure Natural Selection has weeded all of these guys out by now.
Now for those of you who have read my other reviews, you know that I like to Bitch about things in animes that annoy me. D.N.Angel is no exception.
1. Before our hero is about to steal a priceless artifact, he or is mom, always informs the police that he is going to steal it. I mean WTF, why are they telling the cops that they are going to do this. I mean if you want to steal it, just steal it, there's no logical reason to draw attention to yourself by announcing it to the country. This makes it feel like more of a repetitive little kids anime.
2. Episode 11 partially takes place underwater. Our hero is swimming up and down at incredible depths, and yet his capillaries have neglected to burst. Oh I see, maybe it is because he is magically endowed, giving him extra strong capillaries, but that still doesn't explain why the police scuba divers who are pursuing him are fine.
3. This guy is supposed to be some master thief, but he is getting past some obstacles that a non-asthmatic pre-pubescent girl could get past. OMG there is a gate closing in front of me so I won't be able to get through!!!!! What do I do?!!! Oh yea, I run through it before the gate fully closes. Pathetic. Couldn't the writers have come up with some better, more creative security for these priceless artifacts?
4. I have not yet finished the anime, but when I do, you can expect this list to be much longer.
All in all, it felt like the anime could have been so much better had many of its flaws been smoothed out.

Soul Eater is a show that is very average in all areas. It doesn't go above and beyond in anyway, and it happens to fall within your stereotypical anime standards. Instead of going over each catagory, I think i'll just skip it and review the worst aspect of this anime.
The Characters
I found the characters to be the biggest problem with this show. They are all horribly annoying.
Death the Kid - An OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) kid who is willing to put the mission and others at risk in order to satisfy his desire to make everything symmetrical. Really pisses me off!!!!!
Black Star - An
...
exact clone of Naruto. The only difference is that Naruto wants to get stronger in order to protect those important to him, while Black Star wants to get stronger for himself. And on occassion he is prone to throw tantrums (what I interpret to be tantrums. Gets all moody like he has PMS) when he looses.
Maka - Okay personality, except she gets moody sometimes also. I didn't like the voice actor either. She had a very monotone voice. When she is yelling in anger, if I did not have the picture to go with the voice, I would not be able to tell what kind of emotion her voice is trying to convey.
Excalibur - Worst character ever created. Every episode that has him is a pointless filler episode. He was so annoying that I just skipped all the episodes that contained him (which were only a few THANK GOD!). He constantly interrupts others and says irrelevant things. You have to see him to get the full meaning of what I'm trying to describe.
Shinigami - What can I say... Looks like a retard and talks like a retard.
Oh and just a heads up, the way they defeat the final boss does not make sense. I'm assuming the writers made the bad guy so strong that they couldn't figure out a way to kill him, so they just made something dumb happen.
The one positive thing that I will mention in this review is that the powers and abilities in this show are pretty unique. Unlike the tv show Heroes where they just copied all of the powers from X-men, the writer was actually original in some of the characters abilities. The witch medusa has a cool Vector Arrow thing going on and another guy uses the blades of chain saws.
Overall, not a great anime. I can't believe I managed to finish it, but if you are still planning on watching it, you will see that I AM RIGHT. YOU WILL THEN BOW TO MY GREATNESS AND CALL ME GOD!

When I first read the synopsis for this anime I thought " ooh looks like a fun treasure hunting adventure anime." But after watching it, I found out it was a pretty boring anime that was not worth my time.
Story: The story had a lot of potential, but nothing came to fruition. A big problem for me was that they actually find the "treasure" about 4 episodes into the anime. This made it feel like the show reached its climax and everything that followed were just filler stories to eat up time.
Art: The art was good. It was up to modern anime quality standards, but
...
provided nothing innovate or new (which explains why I gave it an 8).
Music: The music was not memorable or exciting. It was pretty boring and dull. If you are looking for fun fast paced music like some of the Naruto intro songs then you will be sadly disappointed.
Characters: Boring as hell. No personalities, and nothing special about them. Just boring generic characters. This means that there was no connection to the characters. You don't learn to love or care for them at all.
Overall: Don't waste your time. I would rather have sex with a donut then re-watch this anime.

I'M SORRY TO ALL YOU FANS OF ARIA BUT I FELT SOMEONE NEEDED TO GIVE TO OPPOSING PERSPECTIVE.
I know a lot of people love this anime, but I just couldn't bring myself to like it. I gave it about 6 episodes to get good but nothing.
Story - Um... what story? This show is a show about nothing, and not in the funny Seinfeld way. Nothing really happens from what I saw. Each episode has some type of strife occur, but there is no antagonist or villain of the sort. I'm kind of confused as to why it is so beloved. But to be fair you
...
might want to give Aria a try, I just happen to dislike it with a vengeance.
Art - A modern anime using modern technology and techniques, so nothing to complain about. It manages to live up to the current status quo, but fails to do anything amazing or innovative.
Sound - Ehh... very laid back and mediocre. Fits the anime well, but doesn't float my boat. If you like the action music or romantic comedy type music, don't expect much watching this anime.
Character - Everyone had the same personality. Well, to be more accurate, they had the same personality with slight variations for each character. All generally nice, good, people who are definitely getting a thumbs up from the man upstairs.
I am a fan of Action-Adventure and Romantic-Comedies for the most part, yet I severely dislike this show. So if you like these animes you may not like this show, but I might just be weird and dislike Aria.

At the time I first watched this anime, I was just randomly picking animes on myanimelist and watching them regardless of their score. Inukami in particular didn't look like anything special, but it turned out to be the shining gem buried in a pile of shit.
Story and Art were good. At times the story didn't follow the story arc format, and each episode possessed its own individual stories, but closer to the end of the series, Inukami does turn into a story arc show.
This show looked like just another ecchi comedy anime, but I was greatly mistaken with this judgment. While the humor is perverted
...
in nature, it veers away from the usual "trip and fall on top of the girl with the hand touching an inappropriate place," and the overly used sexual situations that usually occur in animes. The humor of this anime is just plain WRONG in a good way. The humor is perverted in nature, but not in a sexual way (I know that sounds like a contradiction, but you'll know what I mean when you watch it).
Lets just say all of the villains are unbelievably likable. They all seem to have a male genital complex. Instead of using their hands or swords for weapons, THEIR GENITALS BECOME THE WEAPONS that the heroes must fight against (I know WTF). Just try watching the first episode and I know you will definitely be hooked.

Hm... What can I say, there was some potential in the story though it was not the most original. And since To Love-ru was made relatively recently, the animation quality was very well done.
Now that I've got all the positive factors out of the way, its time for some good ol' criticism. The music was not great or memorable and the characters were cliched, but there was one thing that topped them all. To Love-ru flirts with the borders between ecchi humor and hentai. There is often tentacle monster fondling, but in those situations, there is usually a clothes barrier between the tentacles and the
...
skin (though the tentacles do reach in between the legs a few times).
So say your watching this anime at home and one of these scenes occurs as your mom is about to walk by. Do you keep watching because it's not actually hentai, or do you try to block the screen so she can't see and look even more suspicious to her?
Now i am not saying that ecchi humor is bad or that hentai sucks, but I would prefer knowing what catagory an anime falls under. To Love-ru just felt weird as I was watching it. It failed to create a viewer friendly atmosphere for me, but who knows you might enjoy it. It's just not my cup of tea.

Out of all the animes I have ever seen, only 2 would receive a perfect score... Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and SETO NO HANAYOME. Both are animes about manliness and both are one of a kind animes that will most likely never be satisfactorily duplicated. I remember laughing so hard tears were coming out of the corner of my eyes during Seto no hanayome.
Story - Great story. It does not follow the story arc format like naruto or full metal alchemist. Instead every episode or every few episodes present their own conflicts. But this is what makes the show so FUNNY. One thing to be
...
wary of is that the humor is extremely fast paced, so if you are not a speed reading champion, you will probably find yourself pausing the anime a few times so you can finish reading the subtitles. But at the same time their rapid talking speed is so hilarious you can't help but laugh.
Art - The animation is extremely high quality. You can see the glare from the sun reflect off their hair. It is very well done.
Sound - The music is great! I found myself downloading all of the intro, ending, and character songs once I had completed the anime. The music does an excellent job creating tension and excitement during all the proper moments especially during the finale.
Characters - Oh my God! I loved all the characters. None were annoying and they were all different. Nagasumi (the main character) is the funniest anime character you will ever encounter in your life. His variety of facial expressions can only be rivaled by Great Teacher Onizuka.
Finally, let me clarify how amazing this anime is. If God said he would either wipe this anime from existence or kill me, I would choose the latter.
As a final note, all of the user recommendations for animes that you might like if you liked Seto no Hanayome are all lies. The top three recomendations, Nagasarete Airantou, To Love-ru, and Hayate the Combat Butler, were three animes that I tried and dropped. I found them to either be monotonous or have an annoying type of ecchi humor.

Before I watched Naruto, I thought it looked pretty lame. I now realize I was speaking out of ignorance more than anything. I was basing my inferences on the crappy commercials from cartoon network. MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE SUBBED VERSION.
Story - Naruto possess an amazing story. I found myself getting all teary eyed a bunch of times as I watched it. Quite embarrassing. The one flaw is that they over use the flashback technique. They show memories that make you feel all sad. The first time you watch Naruto this won't bother you, but if you intend to re-watch it, it becomes extremely
...
annoying and tiresome. I found myself skipping huge chunks of the anime the second time around.
Art - One word explanation. Great.
Sound - Almost all of the music is great. Some of the intro songs are bad though. Like the first OP song. "I wanna rocks, rocks to the chest." What the hell does this mean? I don't know.
Overall Naruto is a great show. The biggest flaw is the enormous amount of fillers. Stop watching after about episode 135 because there is no more plot development, just a whole load of crap.
