The 90s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure OVA can be a bit confusing because Studio A.P.P.P. adapted Stardust Crusaders in two series: the later portion of Stardust Crusaders was released first in 1993, followed by the earlier part as a prequel in 2000. Also, this OVA trims a lot of the story and is not as faithful to the manga compared to the newer 2014 David Production anime. The 1993 OVA also marked Satoshi Kon’s directorial debut, who probably contributed to the drastically darker tone carried over to both series, which unfortunately sacrifices a lot of humour from the manga. From Up on Poppy Hill, a beautifully animated historical romance drama that is a significant improvement on Goro Miyazaki's previous film, Tales from Earthsea. It is set in post-war Japan during the 1960s, against the backdrop of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, student protests, and Yokohama's maritime culture, all of which were historically relevant to the time. The unexpected plot twist in the romance is slightly strange, but I believe it serves to illustrate the complexities of rebuilding families and life in the aftermath of World War II in a rapidly changing Japan. Kishibe Rohan's Heaven's Door Stand is incredibly creative, and it's no wonder Araki chose to revisit this character after Diamond is Unbreakable. This OVA leans more into the horror genre than the main David Production JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series.

The Run is one of the best episodes in the entire JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. The plot device involving Rohan Kishibe versus Yoma Hashimo (processed by the Greek deity Hermes) has to the most an intense and psychologically thrilling experiences involving a treadmill of all things.
