SK∞ is basically the epitome of why I love sports anime.
It's absolutely crazy - an it knows it. The show doesn't take itself too seriously, which is fine.
But it also has some jaw dropping animation/art, catchy opening tune (the soundtrack in general is solid) and loveable characters.
SK∞ is loud, colorful and keeps you on your feet.
Until episode 7.
There's some sudden character drama that comes kinda out of left field. At first I was expecting some commentary on talent vs hard work (pretty bogstandard sports anime narrative) but it ended up as... skating is fun?

I definitely enjoyed the anime more, but that's like 90% because of nostalgia lol
The manga felt like it had some extra breathing room for all the characters to grow a little more. It might not be that noticiable but I thought it was neat. However, a lot of Madoka's visual oomph was lost - which is why I prefer the anime. The surreality of a lot of scenes is lacking to say the least. This is especially noticable in the witch labyrinths. The art is by no means bad (quite the opposite) but I think - visuals wise - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica works a little ... |
