I was surprised to find this show as delightful as I did. The characters are adorable, the food in the show looks incredible, it's just a nice feel good show. Although the plot is kind of thin, the show makes up for it in enjoyable characters and giving the audience the ability to have fun with these characters rather than needing them to save the world. There are some comparisons to Konosuba, but I honestly don't think it really compares because I found the characters in this show a lot more likable and the humor much funnier than the slapstick and fanservice comedy of Konosuba, ... but that's just personal taste. I would probably compare it more to something like Little Witch Academia which focuses on the smaller things that make up the lives of characters in the fantasy world. I know this probably isn't for everyone, but for those who want a nice wholesome anime, I say look no further.

Not a bad manga at all, but definitely a niche within an already niche style. In many ways it was an attempt to profit off of the Fist of the North Star hype, and does so in a way that doesn't feel like a total rip off, but it does begin to fall into dull territory at the halfway point. That being said, the first half of the series had me hooked like a fish to water. The horror themes are great, the background characters are interesting, the villain is a rotten and annoying asshole that I looked forward to seeing be defeated. For people ... wanting to read it, just know that there is a lot of inconsistency with the tone and genre of the series, and if that doesn't bother you than dive right in.

This movie feels like a tribute to those who work behind the scenes of each creative project, as well as to why we value creativity in the first place. It's particularly captivating because of it's loveable characters, relatable themes, gorgeous artistic styles, and brilliant music. The character development of Gene Fini is particularly great to watch, as he goes from a lowly assistant to a passionate filmmaker. There are many ways that this movie could have wasted it's potential, but it does a better job than many films with the same thematic material. A fantastic feel-good anime that I will likely be re-watching over and ... over again.

Anyone going into this film should probably know that a lot of the footage of the films live action portions are fake, with most people interviewed being employees of the studio, (one of the people who acts in this film as an interviewee is none other than notorious Otaku hater Hidaeki Anno, who pretends to be a fan who has little self control over specific viewing behavior, watch the film and you will see what I am talking about), so it shouldn't be taken seriously. As a mockumentary though, it is very funny. The anime portion is very enjoyable, starting out very relatable but going ... into bizarre territory. It does show some of the aspects of social stigma that are very present among anime fans, but in a very funny parody style. Not a perfect film by any means, but if you are looking for a film that spoofs its own audience, than look no further.

Definitely among my favorite movies I have ever seen. Every time I watch this movie it feels like a spiritual experience. Incredible detail in the art, gorgeous music, amazing voice acting, and still a movie that is nearly impossible to top even after almost 40 years since its release. While compared to the manga, the plot isn't as compelling, and is a bit hard to follow the first time you watch it, it is a movie that ever since I first saw it, I think about very often. The music is an especially compelling feature, I personally feel that I could listen to it all ... day. It's kind of strange, however, that through the entire movie, especially as a movie that created the Cyberpunk genre as a whole, that the soundtrack only has one portion with electronic instrumentation (electric guitar). Anyway, if you want a truly unforgettable movie experience, this is a movie for you.

Even as a person who didn't love the series, I would still recommend it to other people for the atmosphere and specific characters. My favorite episodes were ones that didn't really make you try to follow an overarching plot, because it became way too hard to follow for myself. I think other people would probably enjoy the show more than I did if they can find characters that they really love to watch. For me, my favorites to watch were Faye and Ed, and the episodes that featured them heavily were the ones I not only enjoyed, but feel like I could go back and ... watch again for no reason at all. As for the ending... I feel that it didn't do anything that Akira hadn't done years before. To really appreciate the ending, you have to absolutely love the main character, Spike Spiegel, which I didn't personally. It's a bit overrated but still definitely worth a watch.
