This manga is good; not great, at least not at the end, but certainly not bad. The first 100 or so chapters are the best, when the plot is relatively small-scale, and the tennis still looks like... well, tennis. As the story escalates, it falls to power creep, and suddenly I'm laughing every match because the suspension of disbelief is just... gone. However, the final match of the series is worth a read; it has some nice theming and character development. I consider Prince of Tennis a great story with a bad ending; here's to hoping the sequel is closer to the former half of

I'm not far into this light novel, but I love it. It's funny and strangely relatable, and its genre is basically a fantasy office drama, which is inherently hilarious. The main character may be magically and physically powerful, but that's never the focus of the story, and arguably is his least important strength. He delegates, he organizes, he teaches people how to communicate, and just feels painfully human in the best of ways. Honestly, I would call this light novel soul-food, in that it's extremely wholesome so far and brightens my day. Highly recommended.
Additionally, those strengths I mentioned above? He isn't perfect at them. ... |
