This anime starts off well, goes off in too many directions, and then gets lost, ending with a final episode that's just filler. There was potential here, and a good animation team, but the story line was a flop. It's almost as if there was a plan for a longer story, but the number of episodes was cut.
Give this one a miss.

Log Horizon is what SAO wants to be when it grows up. The hero doesn't conquer the other guilds; he does a leveraged buyout to take them over. The crafting guilds realize they can build new technology on top of the game mechanics. With careful contract drafting, some of the game's rules can be overridden. This is way beyond the hack and slash of SAO.
Looking forward to Season 2. Season 1 ends with a clear indication of a next phase.

Yawara helps out some kids who are being bullied by teaching them judo. The results are predictable. It's completely disconnected from the rest of the Yawara series. It's more of an anti-bullying PSA than entertainment.
There's no reason to watch this other than completeness. Watch the Yawara series or the Olympics OVA instead. |
