Male protagonists in both anime are guys who have to put up with many 'silly' characters or troublesome situations. Kyon and Gintoki are simple men who are sometimes bored, sarcastic, pervy but all in all gentle with their dear people. And the irony is they are voiced by the same actor - Tomokazu Sugita. Other similarities: despite different genres both series have sci-fi elements and the feeling of randomness; Kagura and Haruhi are bossy; Yorozuya and SOS Brigade engage in many weird tasks.
