Always let kyoani cook. Can't believe this has been on my watchlist for so long. It was so good that a side character made my cry. A rollercoaster of emotions, jumping between happy emotions and sad emotions. Violet's character writing was so incredible, the slow build up to her being able to understand human emotions and being able to write them down was so perfect. It's rare for such an anime to be this good, and I'm glad that I got to live in the same timeline this was released. Definitely recommended for anyone wanting to binge-watch drama anime with incredible writing AND animation. Though ... one thing I did find a little odd was that before I watched this I thought Violet was an adult woman. Very shocked when I found at she was still 10 at the war and 14 in the current happenings in the anime. Age gaps a little questionable that's for sure.
