"Shimanami Tasogare" is a must read for anyone, whether they are a part of the LGBTQ+ community seeking representation or a cis-heterosexual person searching for a way to learn and be a better ally.
But just a heads up: if you're looking for a storyline filled with action, adventure, drama or romance, you've certainly come to the wrong place. While it does have elements of romance and drama, Shimanami Tasogare is a manga entirely centered around the daily lives and struggles of LGBTQ+ people in Japan.

not to say that it is boring, not at all actually. The story excellently gives us a look into each character's outlook on life and on being a part of/being around the LGBTQ+ community. It introduces and familiarizes us with relatable characters of different backgrounds, sexualities, gender identity, age etcetera. It gives the reader a better understanding of what it means to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community and what it means to accept yourself, or at least try to. It gives the notion that it is okay to not know everything and that it is okay to learn, grow and figure things out at your own pace.
Speaking of 'pace', the pacing and layout of this manga were executed in a way that any reader could easily follow the story without being left confused or lost. That, along with the incredible art style made this manga a true joy to look at for me. The character designs were also very well done, with each character having unique features and standing out from the rest. This made the characters easy to tell apart, which is very important in manga.
Overall, Shimanami Tasogare is a very important manga and one that educates, reassures and represents, all while being entertaining and pleasant to look at. A true 10/10 for me.
