Goblin Slayer II (Season 2 on Crunchyroll)
Everything I said in my first review (yes, dear reader, i did review the first season as well) still applies—but somehow, it’s worse.
The second season drags endlessly with unnecessary, nonsensical babbling and even more cringy lewd scenes. Still, NONE of the characters have names, and they haven’t developed in any meaningful way. The priestess has grown a little—she’s less scared and doesn’t wet herself any more—but that’s about it. The other characters remain as static as ever.
The Goburin Israieru himself? Slightly more talkative, but he’s still the same troglodyte who refuses to trust his own party members or share
...
his plans with them. Naturally, they continue to follow him blindly, trusting this socially inept, obscene brute with their lives for no apparent reason.
The only reason I managed to finish this season is because of a pact with my girlfriend: we swore to finish every anime we start. Out of honour, we carefully pick our shows—but, oh boy, I made a terrible choice here. Wasting my time on this disaster of a series feels like a betrayal of that oath.
And to make this train wreck even worse? Furries. Yes, now there are centaurs, bunny girls, cat ladies, and a parade of awkward fan service angles focusing on their anatomy. It’s the absolute worst kind of fan service—cheap, lazy, and pathetic. I get it, some people enjoy this kind of garbage, but we hated it.
I regret every single second spent on this season. By the end, I was skipping through just to get it over with.
Do yourself a favour and avoid this disaster.

Goblin Slayer (Crunchyroll)
I was really excited to watch this, as it had been on my list for quite some time. I’d seen spoilers of specific scenes online that piqued my interest. After wrapping up other shows, I stumbled upon Goblin Slayer on Crunchyroll and remembered it was on my list. No hesitation—it was finally time to watch this popular anime.
But one thing that bothered me a lot was the fact that NONE of the characters, not a single one, has a name. Everyone is referred to by their race or class. It’s like naming your dog “Dog” or if Pokémon were just called “Monsters.” What’s
...
worse is that nobody even bothers to ask anyone else’s name. In this world, people are so self-absorbed that they have no empathy, sympathy, or even a shred of curiosity about each other. An elf is just "Elf," a dwarf is "Dwarf," and humans are called by their jobs or classes.
What a disappointment. Seriously, how do I even explain this anime?
1. It's as generic as it gets.
I should’ve known from the title—“Slayer” is all the rage now: Demon Slayer, Dragon Slayer, Goblin Slayer, and the list goes on.
2. The overused trope of the socially inept MC.
This cliché is unbearable at this point—how much longer will this trend last? The main character is a socially awkward brute, yet everyone loves him, especially the women. He’s a complete jerk with zero personality, but because he’s “super strong” and does the bare minimum, all the female characters are inexplicably infatuated with him. Spare me.
The MC’s values are generic, even within the world of the anime. Everyone else has a tragic backstory just like him, so he’s not special in any way. Yet, the story treats him as some universal savior just because he does what others avoid doing—which isn’t even true. Everyone hunts for rewards just like he does; they just leave the goblin tasks to him because he’s obsessed with them.
His dialogue is painfully repetitive. He constantly says things like “Okay” (Sō ka), “I am the Goblin Slayer” (Goburin Sureiyā da), or at most, “Are there goblins?” (Goburin da?). Annoying as hell. He says it at least ten times per episode. It’s infuriating and childish.
There’s nothing else to say about the MC because he’s so shallow. So, let’s move on to the next issue.
3. The unnecessary lewdness.
There’s absolutely no need for the semi-erotic scenes in this anime—zooms on breasts, exaggerated bouncing, and even scenes of rape. My theory is that if it weren’t for these controversial decisions, this anime wouldn’t even be popular. It’d just be another generic fantasy/adventure manga or anime.
All the female characters are silly, childish, with high-pitched voices, and ridiculously pure and innocent. They all irrationally adore the troglodyte that is “Goblin Slayer-san/Sama.” It’s absurd.
Most of these scenes are more obscene than erotic, add nothing to the plot, and often made my girlfriend uncomfortable. Clearly, this was made with a male audience in mind. As a man, I felt embarrassed by these pathetic attempts too. If you want eroticism, make it relevant to the story—don’t just shoehorn in bouncing boobs or butts. At that point, you might as well just watch hentai.
4. The goblins, the main premise of the anime.
The goblins are portrayed as global terrorists, trauma-inducing, malevolent creatures—a plague, a virus, or the worst kind of infestation. Yet nobody cares about them except the MC, who seems to be the only one that realizes what a problem they are.
Final Thoughts
All of this screams laziness on the author’s part. A disconnected and sloppy story, nameless characters, a generic and hollow plot, and a ridiculously overpowered MC that all the women adore. It feels like the adolescent fantasy of a frustrated man who doesn’t understand how life works.
The MC is so obsessed with his goal that he resembles a socially awkward child who’s never been diagnosed. He reminds me of that one weird guy in the back of the class who only talks about video games or UFOs, who can only answer “yes” or “no,” and whose social skills don’t improve over the years. Imagine a world where that behaviour is admired, and everyone, especially the girls, fawns over him. It’s gross, even disturbing, to think about.
Watching this anime felt like mental torture, and it’s now on my personal list of worst anime I’ve ever seen. I not only don’t recommend it, but it’s so generic that I’ll probably forget I even watched it. In fact, just days after finishing it, I can barely remember the characters or their names—oh wait, they don’t have any.

The Elusive Samurai (on Crunchyroll)
The Elusive Samurai was a pleasant surprise for me. I started watching it randomly, without recommendations or prior knowledge—just clicked and began.
At first, I didn’t think I’d enjoy it. The opening seemed quite childish, filled with jokes, quirky characters, and the classic innocent protagonist overflowing with kindness. I’ve become somewhat saturated with that trope.
However, I must be honest—I was misled by my own biases. This anime skilfully balances seriousness with humour, blending various art styles, from sketchy to 3D, in a magnificent way. I watched all 12 episodes in just two days because it was so enjoyable and light-hearted, leaving me
...
wanting more.
There are numerous references to current memes that are genuinely funny. The humour is impressively woven into the context of war, executed flawlessly by the writers—kudos to them!
It’s worth noting that the series carries philosophical and religious undertones regarding short- and long-term actions and how we impact others, even when it seems counterintuitive at the moment.
What a delightful experience this was! I had never heard of this title or studio before, but they created a remarkable work of art. I’m glad I gave it a chance and watched it.

Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria – A Review
Crunchyroll recently released "Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria," and I find myself puzzled by the manga audience's willingness to consume such content. It’s also baffling that yet another anime studio has chosen to produce a title that feels so generic and lacks originality. However, to be fair, the animation quality is commendable, so it wouldn't be right to criticize that aspect.
The series borrows heavily from other franchises, most notably Harry Potter and Mashle. Our protagonist starts with little to no abilities, only to be mocked by everyone around him. His antagonist/rival is part of a trio that bullies
...
him, which feels like a tired trope at this point. Of course, the protagonist is imbued with the usual plot armour, and—predictably—his memories of the past and an old promise propel him forward. It’s the kind of overused narrative that made my eyes roll so far back, I could almost see my brain.
I have no intention of finishing this series. To me, it’s an insult to my time, especially given how painfully predictable the ending seems to be. The story lacks any real depth. We’re introduced to just two teachers—one supportive, the other dismissive because they perceive the protagonist as weak. Again, nothing original here.
And, as is the case with much pre-teen anime, there's the young love angle, where everyone is infatuated with the protagonist. He remains oblivious, of course, because he’s depicted as gentle, naïve, and pure—a paragon of innocence (it’s enough to make me gag).
I believe the target audience for this series is likely children and pre-teens who are just dipping their toes into the world of magic and fantasy.

It starts with a lot of substance, then suddenly everything is so damn confusing.
This is one of the most rushed anime i've seen in my life.
What are the points? Why do they need them? Where they come from? Its something from the manwha, but they didn't insert in the anime.
Lets talk about the characters: Most of them are so annoyingly generic, their design, their powers, they barely have personalities.
The only thing that made me watch it is, because its short, that some comedic scenes with Rak.
The MC is so annoying, he is fragile but has demi-god-like powers, ah come on, that is the worst kind
...
of protagonist to be created, i really hate characters designs like these. How did it get so popular?
Unless you have a lot of time to waste, watch it. But i'd suggest to simply skip or see a 20 mins talk about the summing up of it on a lore explanation video.
The last three episodes hurt so much my morals, my sanity, my mind because of how everyone is inclined to do Bam's bidding, but he was so freaking loyal worse than a starving house dog to Rachel.
