Story: If the same story is told over 2 or 3 seasons then it would be a masterpiece, unfortunately just like their game the ONA was rushed. The story is incoherent, every act is disconnected from the before and after, and there is much more I expect from the ONA that is in the game. Adam Smasher was in 1 out of all 10 episodes, and that speaks a lot about how rushed the ending is. The corp's involvement is marginal at best, and this show is banked on the fight between the protagonist and the corp, which there is not a lot of. 4/10

Foreword: At the time of watching this anime, all 22 of its episodes are aired and are watched in one sitting, this evaluation is written with coherency in mind. Sound - Let's start with the good parts first. I am not a pianist, not even a performer, but when the OST hits Ds in the sad part and Gs in the redemption part, it is without a doubt that it deserves a higher score than any other anime thus far. A good choice for piano songs as well, a good selection of Chopin and Beethoven. Art - This anime is produced before A1-picture turn their ... Aug 16, 2020
Story: Pacing is off, like so off from the light novel. Episode 3456 I can hear the A-1 picture production studio screaming "WE CANNOT FUCKING TAKE IT ANYMORE KIRITO JUST FUCKING WAKE UP WE CANNOT DELAY ANYMORE xD". Just wtf. All of Kirito's teammate is either apparently feeding or baiting. Asuna baits, Klein feeds, Sinon feeds, Leafa baits (during the pig scene). Hell A-1 picture even included Eiji to feed thinking that not enough feeding is given. The light novel is much, much more in-depth in why they feed/bait, to the point where their demise is justified. 3/10

Story: Enclosed in despair and pain, Our protagonist repeats the old path of season one, but in hardcore mode. No retries, no turning back, no chance of starting over. And this is why the story is one of the best, if not the best, story in the history of anime. Carefully developed despair and unforgivingness coincided with a painful resolution, that is what I am spending 16 hours of my life watching this anime for. Every action is carefully developed so that the author can induce a sense of hopelessness even when the resolution is provided. 10/10 Art: ... Aug 12, 2020

Story: Very original for a 2011 piece, all the terminologies semi-connects, and the storytelling makes sense. Enjoyment wise the topic is very, very good, and lives up to the genre.
Art: I am not a big fan of the doomsday typestyle, where everything is grayscaled. So that is a 7 for me. Attention to detail is good tho. Sound: Very mediocre. Character: Every character has full development, unlike some other anime. Cough Cough Index III, and are all equally important for story progression. The interconnectedness is unparalleled and just goes to show how great this story is. Enjoyment: very nice. ... Jul 28, 2020
You don't need a god-like character to create a blood pumping anime.
Story: Best, story arc, out of all of the others. You don't need a god-like character to drive the plot, you don't need Kirito to get the audience in the mood. Just like Re:0, a normal protagonist is enough to drive the audience up, and that is just why this story arc is better than any other arcs. 10/10 Art: A-1 picture, please, stop slacking, your work is weeping for your ignorance and shit ass fucking artwork. Hell, even some money-sucking hentais have better artwork than this. please. I beg you. 3/10 Sound: This season's SoundFX ... Jul 27, 2020

Story: Much, Much better than any other story arcs as of right now, including SAO and ALO. Finally living up to the "Action, Adventure" genre tag. Kirito and Eugeo earned my respect in this season more than any others. 10/10
Art: Unfortunately this is around the time when A-1 fucked up, simple character expressions, bad shader application, cutting edge slacking in drawing, A better story arc living up to a bad art standard, How sad. 3/10 Sound: As usual, SoundFX is good, music selection is excellent, 9/10 Character: Just like the story arc implies, every character has meaning now, they are not just data anymore. Everyone who is ... Jul 26, 2020
Story: Unlike season 2, the movie developed the story just like any other movie, closely following the classicism style of developing plot. (Spoiler alert Kirito finally gets to meet Asuna's parents ᕙ(`▿´)ᕗ) A solid 9
Art: This is kind of the time when A-1 pictures took a big fat turn and lowered their expectations in change for revenue. Compared to S1 S2, a lot of the environmental detail is watered down, the character's face has been shapeshifted. And thus this section deserves a 5. (stop it, get some help) Sound: Same ol' SAO SoundFX. The only reason this is a 9 is for the sheer amount of ... Jul 24, 2020

Minor Spoiler alert, please read at your own discretion.
Story: First 18 episodes story development is all over the place, side characters getting too much attention while main characters don't, but the last 6 ~ 8 episode or so saved this rating from a 5 or 6 and concluded SAO in general in a good way. All the arcs can be linked together if you think about the ending enough. Art: Since the studio is A-1 pictures I am going to rate it based on recent iterations (Summer 2020) of A-1 animation. Not the best in the industry, but definitely better than current A-1 pictures and J.C.Staff. ... |
