Despite ridiculous "online shopping" skill premise in the beginning it looked like the anime would benefit from having mature protagonist (he even get laid straightaway). But nope, it went back to good old dumb harem isekai trope: with jack-of-all-trades yet naive MC dreaming about "quiet life" and being scared to even look at naked women...
Plus "magical" ability to hoard useless garbage from "modern" world and make unforgettable impression on "inferior" local folk. Like steel drum for bathing (wow, what a novel idea filling a tub with water to bath! Truly mindblowing!) or the food (our MC is also a chef ofc, he'll show those barbarians

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar is a good "trapped in fantasy rpg world" anime without fan service.
Before I started watching this anime, I was afraid it was kinda clone of SAO or Log Horizon but much worse. But luckily I got so wrong. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar is far better than those two, not to mention about others in this genre. The main problem of such animes is too much fan service in them, boobs, ecchi stuff, harem, dumb "comedy" scenes, etc, which all eventually ruin the story. This happened with both SAO and Log Horizon I mentioned. But not with Hai to Gensou no ... |
