I couldn't stop smiling while reading this manga. I think it'd be fine for young children, but I am an adult and still enjoyed it a lot. Throughout the story, Nicola gets into mishaps, but nothing ever seems too dangerous for her. I wouldn't call it scary at all. It's funny, but also very charming.

The art style is so pretty, it's compared to a children's storybook and I have to agree. A lot of the characters have a style that is old-school in a way that is somewhat nonspecific in its inspiration. It's very cute, though I wonder if there's going to be a reason ... outside of style for this. Not that I'd be upset if the reasosn was just for style, lol.

All of the demons in this story are so nice it feels somewhat funny to call them demons. They're monsters, for sure, but like a Halloween children's book version of monsters where they're not evil and are actually nicer than humans in general. This is not at all a negative to me, I just find it somewhat funny.

Nicola is adorable as a protagonist. and Simon as her dad/guardian/whatever is really fun and sweet. The side characters are also fun, especially Nicola's demon friend Rosetta, and Simon's dad.

The series is coming to an end at the 4th book, which I understand. I'd love to see an infinite number of these stories, but I understand that it would likely get old for both author and reader after a while.

If you like stories that are sweet, super wholesome slice-of-life fantasy stories, I'd highly recommend this manga! I liked it a lot, and I hope others enjoy it too!

Despite being a long-time anime watcher, this was my first manga a little over 3 years ago. The world that Dungeon Meshi (I prefer Dungeon Meshi to Delicious in Dungeon as delicious is hard for me to spell) builds is sublime. I wouldn't say the story is incredibly compelling, but it's somewhat reminiscent of a slice-of-life. It cuts back to the characters when something important is happening, usually when it's time to eat. I find it easy to pick up and read without really worrying about getting confused on what was going on before. I haven't found myself annoyed at any contrivances, or plot lines ... that went on for too long. It also isn't just about cooking, and the way that gimmick is included feels grounded and makes sense in the story.

Humor is subjective, but to me, this manga is very funny. The way the team interacts is often very comical. The bonus panels with each volume are often devoted to a singular bit, which I appreciate. There are serious moments for sure, and even some fairly dark bits as the series progresses, but I'd say the tone overall is quite lighthearted. I enjoy things on the lighter side, so I view this as a positive.

The art is amazing, from stunning views of the dungeon levels, cool & cute monsters, and the food. I also like all the character designs as well. A lot of the side characters look cool, and are more memorable than I would expect. I'd say that the art is my favorite part, though the characters and story are not at all lacking.

Overall, I think this manga is pretty much exactly what I want from it. If you're looking for a fun and unique fantasy adventure, check it out!
