Ooh this is a difficult one to rate! First off, the art is lovely, full of absolutely stunningly beautiful men (especially as the volumes go on) - sadly the historical real-life characters on which some of the stories are based probably didn't look quite so stunning....
There are some gripping stories in the mix here too although this is a bit more uneven IMHO. You're not always that invested in the characters of the stories - kind of inevitable when they're of short duration - and I found myself a little impatient at times to get back to the main story.

This is a wonderful manga that I think has enough action to appeal to some shounen fans as well as those (like me!) who love anything supernatural with a complex storyline and gorgeous pretty men. It’s not explicitly shounen ai I don’t think but there’s plenty there for the boys-love fans to read into. I get majorly excited whenever there’s a cool beautiful baddie and we get one entering the frame pretty much straightaway - and then the plot thickens with a sometimes quite bewildering complex array of characters, with multiple motivations and alliances. I love Kaori Yuki's Cain series and this could perhaps have developed into something similar - the characters look gorgeous and they're interesting as personalities - however I think the very fact it's only a single volume made me feel just slightly less invested in the characters/overall story.
Anais (the main female character) especially is fun - I love the way that she just does not let Kanade (the main male character) get away with anything! Story - Really intriguing, involved storyline with compelling main characters. This story is a step above the usual ‘I like this guy…..there’s some complications and misunderstandings but then we eventually get together’ manga. It’s a plot-heavy, romance-light drama – but the romantic elements meant more to me when they do appear, as I was more invested in the characters.
