I never thought I'd want to write an anime review, but Kuroko no Basket inspired me to so bear with me as this is my first review.
Kuroko no Basket provided me with a pleasant surprise as I was never a huge fan of sports anime, but I truly enjoyed this anime a lot. Being the girl that I am, I must admit that the character design was what drew me in, but this anime is so much more than a bunch of pretty boys playing basketball.
Each of the characters are actually very well developed and you actually learn a lot about them.The different personalities ... of the characters balance each other out very nicely and it was a joy meeting each new character as they came along.
The story progressed nicely and had a nice flow to it with really intense matches and some lighthearted comedy. I'd say the only downside is that it's somewhat predictable, but don't get me wrong, it's still a very interesting story.
Although I may be just a bit bias because I naturally favor this type of character design, the art and animation was handled very well. There weren't any parts of the animation that really stood out as lacking or rushed to me.
The soundtrack also worked really well for each of the different scenes and enhances the mood quite nicely.
Overall, I really did enjoy this series and I'd recommend it to anyone unless you absolutely detest sports, in which case this may not be the anime for you as they do play basketball a lot. But if you are unsure how you feel about sports anime and want to give one a try, this series is a great start. Kuroko no Basket will definitely be added on to my list of favorite anime and I really hope a new season comes out soon!
