Queer themes, family drama, murder attempts, actual major characters deaths (yes, plural, as in multiple), a couple of bitch slaps, incredible outfits— this story has it all.
The story is about Nanako, who attends an elitist private all-girls high school. Nanako is presented as a normal girl, who feels very out of place in her school, surrounded by the rich daughters of proficient figures like famous authors, professors, business men and even politicians (even though she herself is the step-daughter of a very famous university professor). The manga follows her as she is invited to be a part of The Sorority, which is supposed to
...
be this incredibly high-class super exclusive student organization, where only the best of the best can be a part of— and then drama ensues. According to basically everyone at school, a normal girl like Nanako shouldn't be part of The Sorority, so much so that some of her classmates try to put on a petition to kick her out lol. Even she herself doesn't understand why she was selected to be a part of it.
Throughout the whole thing, a lot of incredibly dramatic things happen, some of my favorites are:
1) When Shinobu tried to kill one of their classmates.
2) When Kaoru no Kimi showed Nanako her breasts to tell her about her cancer.
3) Every time someone cried and was slapped afterwards.
4) The amazing outfits.
5) The incredibly intricate family drama, and the fact that Nanako and Takehiko were siblings all along.
6) Rei's off-screen death.
After finishing this manga, I understood why it's a classic. Even though the overly dramatic story is funny at times, it still is a very good and interesting piece. It touches on things like queerness, femininity, loss, grief, depression, and a lot of other interesting themes. To me, this is one of those works where you start to read it because it's light and fun, and then it leaves you with a lot of things to reflect upon when you finish it (looking underneath the underneath and all of that).
In conclusion, even though this story can be taken lightly and be funny for it's over-the-topness, I encourage anyone reading that they give this an honest chance. Yes, it's fun and it might seem like it lacks seriousness, but when you start to actually dwell on the things that happened, a lot of actually really profound and interesting topics can be found— like, for example, with Kaoru's cancer and her fear of dying alone, or the way Rei abused drugs because of the pain it caused her to be ignored by her sister.
My final words are: this was good, read it. Also, I made this too long. Sorry.

This story, at least for me, is about love and grief.
The younger cat, Nyatto, brings back his older sister from death, and then he drags her catatonic body across the earth, space, and time, all so he can find a God who can return her soul to her body.
At the end, I don't know if everything that happened actually happened or if it just was Nyatto's way of coping with his sister's passing. Either way, even with the dark themes, at the end of it all, what I felt was the immense love that this little cat had for his older sister. When everyone
...
in the house disappears, I wonder if they actually did do so or if it was just a representation of the emptiness one feels with the loss of a loved one.
I loved this, and I will be recommending it to everyone I know. It's now one of my favorite films ever.

This manga deserves much more recognition.
I went into it without much expectations, and what I found was a treasure. The story was so good that I read all of it in one night— I couldn't put my phone down until I finished it, and even then, I still wanted more. The story is so well written that it will leave you wanting more after every chapter.
The characters, too, are all really well written and lovable, and all of them experience some kind of growth. Even Hiroto, who is (in my eyes at least) the villain, was enterteining to read and also easy to understand. You
...
will simpatize with all the characters and feel for all of them. I was very emotionally invested and at the end all I wanted was a happy ending for everyone (except Hiroto, I hate Hiroto).
Overall, this was a really pleasant read, with a lot of good characters and an amazing story, and very beautiful art too. I highly recommend this for everyone.

If you want to watch an incestuous and pedophilic story about a full grown man grooming and constantly molesting an indefense and vulnerable child, this is the anime for you. Every single episode left me feeling extremely sorry for Ren. He was abandoned as a baby, then his adoptive parents died and now he lives with a pedophile who takes adventage of him constantly.
Besides Ren and his school friend (can't bother to remember his name), all of the characters suck. Ren is a fourteen year old child, and every adult around him watches as he is constantly molested by a twenty two year old
...
adult. Everyone thinks it's cute and funny, and nobody does anything to protect him or take the situation seriously.
The anime tries to justify itself by showing how much Ren (a child) loves and cares for Haru (an adult), and how he "doesn't want to be treated as a child". Regardless of how badly Ren wants to be treated like an adult, he isn't one, and it's the responsability of the ACTUAL adults around him to take care of him and not abuse him. The fact that he has a crush on Haru is also irrelevant. It doesn't matter how much a CHILD likes an adult, it's the dult's responsability to not be a pedophile and a weirdo.
Whoever wrote this needs to do jail time.
