*This review will cover part 6 as a whole*
Stone Ocean was definitely a very pleasant surprise followed by a huge disappointment...
Some more than others, but all 5 previous parts of Jojo had
...
(among many others) the same big problem: Things just happen, often even contradicting the anime's own rules, all followed by one or more characters in the background shouting as hard as they can without stopping in detail about what is happening.
And it was surprising how Stone Ocean was by far the part that distanced itself the most from this in its first 24 eps. Many of the stands are more direct and solid and therefore many of Jojo's characteristic twists don't sound forced as usual, for example look at how simple Jolyne's ability is and works identically throughout the entire series, she is just learning new uses with each fight, now compare this with Giorno who in each episode does something completely new, forgets previous things and often breaks his own rules.
Unlike, for example, part 3, where most of the "fights" were limited to the enemy stand using an unavoidable power and the heroes just having to deal with the enemy's own game and using stupid logical leaps to win, in Stone Ocean they really were fights where the cards are on the table and the heroes' abilities are as important as the enemy's, it is really a clash between two or more stand users.
A big difference is that this season takes place mostly within a prison wich operation is very well explained and even its mapping is shown, and this scenario is extremely important for the story, it gives advantages and disadvantages to the characters inside and outside the fights, which only adds more layers and possibilities to the story (The final episodes of the first cour are exciting and tense specially because of the whole enviroment). Given the appropriate proportions, it even reminded me of the battles in HxH where everything counts, the fighters, their powers, their psychology, the scenario, all the variables.
Everything was wonderful until the final third began...
Bizarrely, literally everything I mentioned turns upside down. The setting doesn't matter anymore, the stands are too open and one-sided, so the script completely loses its resistance, going down a nonsense and forced path like the old Jojo I know. (For those who have already seen it, look at what THAT GUY has become, both the character and specially the stand...)
To be fair, despite its own merits, one thing that helped the first two thirds be so good was that this story is one of those that pushes things to the end, so the first two cours, instead of already developing and concluding things, push everything to make sense and close at the end.
This in no way gives any justification for the third course, as ideally everything should be good and as it was going it had everything to be, but it just makes the point that if the final stretch wasn't so bad, maybe what came before wasn't so good.
Because everything was pushed to the end, expectations for this ending were higher, and there was still a lot to happen and somehow miraculously everything was closed, but nothing was satisfactory and it makes it even worse to see how much time is wasted with events futile and bad like Bohemian Rhapsody and Versus.
As far as the audiovisual is concerned, I can only add that the music and sounds are competent but not
exceptional or memorable, and the visuals themselves are excellent, but (especially in the first episodes) they consist of static frames and when there is animation it is very hard, from memory. It's the worst of the 6 parts in that sense.
This journey began as a pleasant surprise that unfortunately ended with a bitter taste but that still doesn't erase what it did.
If it started as by far the best i've seen in Jojo, it closed as perhaps still being the best part to date.
After part 5 I definitely wasn't excited with Jojo, so much so that I only went to see the sixth part now. But now I can't deny that I'm curious and even hopeful about the upcoming part 7.
So yeah, even as i particulary is more in the "dislike guys" side of Jojo i still would recommend the whole anime to anyone, its just too important for the industry to be ignored, even if you dislike even more than me its pretty great for study all the bad and good things you can do in a story, and of course this work, with all its immense flaws, touched and still touches thousands of people even after more than 30 years, perhaps you will be one of them. You might not even like all the parts, but maybe at least one will be to your liking, part 6 is especially one of the most divisive among everyone, and now its my favorite, that's why I say, no, don't skip any part. (Even the bomb that is part 5, which I don't know how on earth anyone is capable of liking, but it's even a favorite for some haha)

Watching this anime all the time I asked myself, did I really used to love this story? Since I was little, most of what I liked was actually good stuff. So it didn't happen much that I liked something but after years discorver that was bad, so i started to see some comparisons between this remake and the original and I understand that i really still like the original a lot. The problem is this remake is flat, it's the standard of the standard.
There are some substantial changes and some are more faithful to the manga, but that's not the problem, the
...
problem is that the humor was capped, the scenes of impact and emotion were extremely reduced, the animation is more standard POSSIBLY the same for the soundtrack. So it's a story where things just happen, you're not impacted by anything, you don't care about anyone.
It's still completely decent, especially compared to the atrocities that are currently being released, and for those who already know it, it's cool to see the changes and if they get there it will be really cool to see the last arc animated, but I definitely don't recommend it to anyone who's never seen Rurouni Kenshin.
If you want to see this story, watch the original anime without the fillers or the manga.
There is also an OVA tsuioku-hen which is the best thing ever done with Rurouni Kenshin, it is a 4-episode stand-alone that despite being a prequel has a completely different presentation.
There are also films that I don't recommend starting with, they're cooler for those who already know the animes, but even they are still better than this remake...

Have you guys watched the same movie as i???
The movie i watched 10 minutes ago was 1:26Hrs of this "INCREDIBLE" PLOTLINE: A old woman tells her "stupendous" love (i think?????) story, she was in her likely 16 when she meets an OUTLAW, TAKES HIM HOME, TAKES CARE OF HIM (WITHOUT ASKING NAME OR ANYTHING), in the other day he leaves... AND SHE SPENDS HER ENTIRE LIFE LOOKING FOR THIS GUY. Alright, this is the plot.. Repeated for more than A HOUR. But hey, the "aesthetic" its great and pseudo-cult likely, and this PIECE S*, sorry, this plot is repeated in various scenarios, i
...
forgot to quote but she becomes an actress. And she plays the same role in all her movies, which is in this case the same Muggle role she plays in her "real life" that I mentioned above (she has a less acting roles than freaking adam sandler). So if you for some reason like this movie and give some stupendous 10/10 scores i would like if you tell me WHY. Its just the aesthetic's? Its cause satoshi is a famous dude? Its cause in some way its a "cult" one?
Like i said in the begining i really watched the same "MOVIE (??)" as you guys? Cause what I have watched was just 1:26hrs OF THE SAME SCENE REPEATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN in sort of diferent scenarios. This was a torture..
OBS: That ""love"" journey of the movie was not close to love, i would say the protagonist is a psychopath, i think its a less worse and more rational way to interpret this thing..
There were times when I was thinking that the guy she wanted didn't even exist, just an ilusion of her madness mind (which would be minimally more interesting, in fact interesting is a word that doesn't come to mind about this movie, if there's one thing he's NOT is this), and also there were times when I almost slept, but not even to sleep the movie cheered me up.

"If I could only have one more day, I could do a great painting."
- Katsushika Hokusai
Hokusai is a gekiga, more specifically a jidaigeki written
...
by none other than the king of manga, Shotaro Ishinomori (creator of Kamen Raider and more than 700 other titles, in his career he made about 128 thousand pages, being the mangaka with the largest numbers manga in history).
This series is a biography of Hokusai, one of the greatest artists in the history, as his works served as inspiration for artists at the level of Vincent Van Gogh.
Hokusai lived for art, self improvement was his biggest goal in life. An example of this is that in his life he signed with about 30 names, each name was a renaissance for him, with that he ended up abandoning all the fame and money of the previous name but what mattered to him was just one thing: drawing.
Basically the history of the manga is a brushstroke in some moments of the life of Hokusai in different years. Because the focus of the story is on the Hokusai and the drawings, the other characters are very one-dimensional, and that is not bad since it is not the focus of the story and the Hokusai is captivating.
The art of this manga is beautiful, the scenarios are extremely detailed and the characters are in the retro manga style and of course the manga has several legendary drawings by Hokusai, for example "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife "(one of the first sexual arts with octopuses, yes it came from that time).
This manga is nothing that will blow your head or anything, it is a short reading (about 600 pages with short texts), very light and pleasant. For those who like art, mainly Japanese is a great read, I had a lot of enjoyment with this, I don't know how much creative liberties the manga takes but surely what you have here is a great tribute to the genius Hokusai.
"I have drawn things since I was 6. All that I made before the age of 65 is not worth counting. At 73 I began to understand the true construction of animals, plants, trees, birds, fishes, and insects. At 90 I will enter into the secret of things. At 110, everything - every dot, every dash - will live. To all of you who are going to live as long as I do, I promise to keep my word. I am writing this in my old age, I used to call myself Hokusai, but today I sign myself The Old Man Mad About Drawing."

To begin with I don't think the genres listed in the MAL for this title are correct. I can't see any "adventure" in this manga, and the fantasy is more on the sci-fi side. So I would put "military, action, mystery, thriller, supernatural, sci-fi and philosophical (I think this should be a genre in MAL).
So about the story, it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, with giant insects, miasma and other surprises. But what is destroying the world the most is the war that humans cause.
The main focus of the manga is on the mystery and some philosophical discussions.
I have two
...
complaints about this manga, the first of which is related to manga art.
It is a very detailed art, but it is very small, dark, with MANY hatches and very similar characters. In other words, it ends up being very polluted, it has a certain beauty but it ends up being very confusing at different times, hindering my experience.
The first chapter starts from nowhere and only then goes to the beginning and explains it right, combining this with the confused art that I was not used to, it made a very problematic reading for me right from the beginning. But as the manga goes on you become more familiar with the art.
The other complaint is about the characters being left out during the series.
Kushana does not do much from the second half of the story, we are shown superficially the motivation of Kurotowa but afterwards he becomes only a bodyguard, Yupa is always mentioned for his combat skills, but we never really see them and mainly Absel is completely irrelevant. They are very good characters that deserved more participation. The villains, on the other hand, were real disappointments.
Apart from these two flaws I consider it a very good manga, I highly recommend it, just keep in mind that this is NOT a badass fight manga and it is not an adventure. It is a manga with a rich universe, a lot of dialogue and history. The action is dirty and dry, it is not to be badass, it is a real war not something to "hype" us.

The first problem and certainly one that justifies you to stay away from this thing, the "Wolverine" of this series is NOT Wolverine.
His personality have nothing to do with the famous mutant, his past not exist, his amnesia? Neither. Not even what is his greatest mark, his savagery is shown here. Berserker mode? NOOOP.
So we have a tall, skinny guy, without a beard, without body hairs, with an emo hair, without his strong personality, without his animalistic side, without a past. The only things he has in common with Logan are the name, claws, healing factor and a jacket.
Okay, enough about
...
"Wolverine". What remains? More trash:
Mariko, Yukio, Yashida, Kurohagi and rest are as generic as possible, as well as this "Logan", in fact generic is a good way to summarize this anime.
Scott is thrown out of nowhere in the middle of the story and does practically nothing, and he's even interesting (probably because he barely shows up), and
I must admit that Kykyo is quite cool. Omega Red is ok too.
The action is also generic, it doesn't have an interesting choreography, tension, twists, good animation, violence and "Logan" just gets beat up and looks more like a punching bag from Yashida.
They made history in Japan because OBVIOUS THEY ARE JAPANESE THEN THE STORY HAS TO BE THERE ALSO. Yes, I know that Wolverine has an arc in Japan but couldn't they have left that arc for later? Who knows in a second season and instead focus on Wolverine? Showing the war, the weapon X project, the mysteries and dramas of his amnesia, his duality between man and a beast.
They preferred trown "Logan" in Japan to rescue his girlfriend.. Yes.. THAT'S THE PLOT. But ok, if they wanted to make the history in Japan that much.. SO WHERE IS SILVER SAMURAI???
At least it's not as episodic as Devil May Cry, but it's just as boring.
The true Logan is such a good character, he allows stories from the most diverse presentations and in this anime they didn't use anything from him. It is just a commercial anime of an attempt to introduce a western character to the land of the rising sun.
It would be better to partner with a renowned seinen mangaka and turned into an anime later..

A very unknown anime, but with his small fanbase it is the most overrated anime I have ever seen (just see the reviews in MAL itself), its community treats it as a classic cult, which it COULD have been but is FAR from being. (Now if you don’t have the patience to read this book, scroll down to the final considerations where I summarize my opinions)
Gungrave starts with a HORRIBLE first episode, where he wants to give some taste of what will happen in the future but ends up just being bad and giving heavy spoilers of what we will see later. I
...
highly recommend skipping this episode, because episode 18 is the same thing as this first one. (They tried to foreshadowing the same way as Berserk 97 but they failed)
Then the anime goes to a big flashback, which is where the anime shines.
In short, the story talles two great friends poor from the periphery who entered the mafia and want to go up there. Brandon is a quiet person (too much) and just wants to be loyal and protect those he loves. Harry, on the other hand, has a great ambition and will do anything for her. (Again identical to Berserk) Basically this is the plot, the central theme of these show revolves around family, loyalty, ambition and betrayal.
The anime has a bit slow pace but creates a really cool story, with some memorable moments (episodes 8,14 and 26 are AMAZING). But now comes the bad part.. And how bad it is .. Oh boy ..
At some point, elements of sci fi are introduced in the anime (and a bad ones), in the worst Resident Evil style and that's where the anime throws everything that was built until then in the GARBAGE (Well, the first episode tried to warn us that it would happen but we didn't listen haha). The second half of the anime is a succession of bad action scenes, with a plot worthy of 80's trash film (with things like the villain's crazy laugh looking at the city through the building's window), with stupid characters (there's a fat zombie that flies with a helicopter propeller on his back), with cringe lines ("I don't deserve a name, call me N, there are no names in hell"). That is, the anime was screwed. The only cool thing about the second half is the last episode that returns to the themes discussed in the past and gives a cool outcome to the characters. The rest is the purest and most complete TRASH.
This may be personal, but I believe that it is common sense that the opening is stupid and its a fact that doesn't match the show (that elevator music with that poses is so ridiculous), the OST communicates well with the anime but it is far from something memorable, the ending is incredible (and it should be the OP). The animation in general is ok, at times it is good but there are scenes very badly done. One thing to quote is in the direction, it has very nice details like the phrases in the preview of the next episode (Very similar to Trigun, and it is not for nothing, since it has the hand of the creator of this series in Gungrave). A specific scene worth mentioning is the whole end of episode 14 that was magnificent, very well done.
Final considerations:
When the anime focuses on the protagonists, the mafia and the core themes that I mentioned before it's a great anime. But when he goes to the "sci fi" side, "Resident Evil", "Michael Bay", "80's trash B movie" he becomes something VERY stupid. In the end my grade for the series as a whole is 5. That's because the mafia part is really good so I can't give it a lower grade. It's funny how this anime has some of the best episodes I've seen in all the anime and also some of the worst, and all of that in just 26 episodes. My relationship with this anime is one of hate, hate because I wanted to love him but he makes me want to burn my eyes and burst my ears to make him stop.
