The MC is basically an overpowered protagnist that is the only one that can keep leveling up. It's guilty pleasure to root for the weakest mercenary and see him rise to the top. Except that the plot, character depth, development and side characters are very bare bones.
The art and animation is good, and VA for the MC is great. Fight scenes are nice but nothing out of this world or unique. The pacing is poor, and some episodes just goes by without adding any value to the series. Even with an already thread-bare plot and character depth, for some reason the animation studio decided
...
to add a recap episode 7.5??
So,I admit that after watching season 1, I have many questions - so I decided to go read up spoilers and comments from Forums. Oh boy, the world building inconsistencies and plot holes were never really fixed even after the end of the LN or manwha.
If you want a more fleshed out story surrounding an OP protaganist - One Punch Man is way better in almost every aspect except that Sung Jin-Woo is cool looking and One Punch Man looks err...ridiculously bad, dumb?
At the end of the day, Solo Leveling can still be an enjoyable guilty pleasure for good measure of action. But just keep your expectations low, and you probably will be fine?

Shangri-La Frontier has an interesting premise where the virtual characters are the "main" characters more so than the physical characters. I find this anime quite engaging and it keeps us in suspense on what game mechanics or situation will appear as a new challenge to Raku. Whilst this anime has quite a number of issues - which I will get to later - as someone that has played in open world games, I think the writer has done a great job in combining elements of existing gaming tropes and mechanics and putting a fresh spin onto the adventure.
The introduction of Emul, Oikatzo and Pencilgon has
...
really upped the ante and interesting team dynamics filled with different personalities and strengths of each characters. The animation itself is decent by today's standards (nothing amazing or jaw dropping), and the characters/ minions/bosses designs are quite interesting and unique.
Needlessly to say the 1st OP is definite banger and sets the mood of the game quite well going into every episode.
The small criticism I have for this anime is mainly 2 things:
1. Psyger-0 or Rei as a romantic element doesnt really work so far going into 16 episodes. She's quite one dimensional and quite frankly annoying. I hope she does serve an actual purpose the overall storyline much later on. Frankly, at this point, it's better removing her from the story altogether if she doesnt have any plot of progression elements in the future.
2. The pacing of the anime is frankly quite inconsistent. There are some episodes, where they drag out non-important elements and just drag out the episodes needlessly, and it just serves as a "filler" episode that dont contribute anything to the show efficiently..
Looking past some of the nitpicks I have, I think Shangri-La is a definite must watch for it's entertainment value and unique premise. Don't expect mind-blowing plot like AOT or actions like JJK or Demon-Slayer, and you will be fine.

If you need a decent anime about cooking then I highly suggest watching "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill" instead. It has the same premise about cooking food using ingredients from unknown creatures, monsters but the only difference is that Campfire Cooking actually blends the cooking technique of modern day style into the medieval times - which makes it more intriguing and relatable. Whilst the cooking ideas in the anime is not bad, I am just pointing out there is already a better anime for this premise.
The art and animations are nice and have beautiful color palette. the characters designs in the
...
show are okay. there's a lot of hype surrounding Marcille but I feel her over-comical gestures come across as too slapstick, unnatural, less impactful and unfunny by the time it reaches episode 3.
The one thing that seriously bother me about the plot is that Laios is "rushing" to save his sister - but at the same time seems too relaxed or seems to lack urgency of accomplishing that. This whole side quest of being well-nourished versus rushing against time in saving his sister narrative; seems extremely at odds with each other.
I was extremely hyped anticipating this anime. I wanted it badly to do well and impress me, but so far it has fallen so hard that I am hoping for miracle to overturn it's fortunes. Hopefully it will get better, but if it doesn't then I seriously lost precious hours of my life watching this.

I am seriously conflicted about this show. There are hits and misses in this show.
First of all, it feels as if the story centres more around Kabakura and Koyanagi's blooming relationship more than Narumi and Nifuji. Nifuji is an extremely frustrating character. He doesnt really do anything much to progress his relationship with Narumi, and even if he did, it is either painstakingly slow or he will ruin it by either backing off or making unnecessary gesture to ruin the moment.
The main highlight of this anime is actually the dynamics and friendship of the 4 main characters - their difference in personality, tastes and interest
...
bounce off well creating realistic discussions on otaku/weeb culture amongst them. I find that really enjoyable.
Also, if you come to find love development between Nifuji x Narumi, it's either painstakingly slow or zero. the interesting relationship is actually Koyanagi x Kabakura, how they deal with their stubborn personalities and differences in taste and learn to reach a compromise in the end is a very realistic take of how an actual relationship works.
I see that this anime is extremely popular - maybe it is because of those that has already read the mange further ahead. But personally for me, i have mixed feelings about this anime. I wanted badly to see more progression or development in Nifuji's carefree non-chalant attitude towards Narumi and actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, and i hardly got much real romantic vibes between Nifuji x Narumi, more like awkward high school relationship where they cant even hold hands or kiss.
Towards the end, I find it real chore to finish this anime and the OVAs. I did but just wanna warn everyone - dont expect too much from Season 1 or the 3 OVAs.

Suprisingly, this movie is everything the post-Soul Society wishes it could be. Narratively it makes sense how this movie takes place after Soul Society arc but before Arrancar arc. Amazing OST, nice animation & characters with actual depth and motive.
The introduces the Valley of Screams seamlessly. The concept behind the Valley of Screams and the Blanks is extremely fascinating and dives into some interesting spiritual and philosophical concepts.
the new character Senna is well written, has charisma and amazing chemistry with Ichigo. Senna has an interesting arc with a fantastic payoff, and frankly one of the most memorable characters in Bleach to this day.
Why cant
...
they do the same with the anime series? because it was not written by creator Tite Kubo, but by Masashi Sogo and Natsuko Takahashi. It is obvious that Tite Kubo has amazing design and art and a cohesive story when Bleach started but after that post Soul Society Bleach is basically mediocre - the mangaka's burnout is evident. He should have taken the route of focusing on the writing and let someone else do the illustration for the manga like One Piece.
I highly recommend this movie. Most importantly, it doesnt even feel like a filler and without giving too much away, the story was so well written that it is not a cash and grab storyline - and it can be easily considered cannon because how good it is.

I seriously do not know what is the point of remaking Full Metal Alchemist when the 2003 anime is already amazing. Just because it follows the manga more faithfully, doesnt make it a better anime.
Is this the worst anime of all time. No. Is it massively overrated? 100% yes.
They seriously dumb down several notches and make Brotherhood extremely childish and make key events like Ed and Al's failed transformation or Tucker's sinful act less impactful than the OG 2003 FMA. Even the Humonculi in Brotherhood are shallow, whereas in the OG FMA, the Humonculi are well written characters with conflicts and depths. What's the
...
point of "better pacing" when it does not deliver on an emotional level?
If you want a good thought provoking version. Stick to the 2003 anime.
The worst part is the delusional Brotherhood fans that attack everyone that disagrees with opinion that Brotherhood is not the greatest anime of all time. They should try watching the 2003 Full Metal Alchemist, then they will know why Brotherhood is extremely a poor representation of the masterpiece.
I am going to rate this anime low, because not only it is a waste of time when you already have a better version available in the form of the 2003 anime.

I will keep this short. My biggest regret of being a Bleach fan and hoping that the story will eventually improve. ......
Most Bleach fans just cannot accept the reality that Bleach is only good up until Soul Society arc. Post Soul Society arc - Bleach has gone downhill and Sennen Kessen-hen arc is all hype but zero substance - just the same power creep nonsense that we get from Dragonball universe. Ichigo is probably one of the most shallow protagonist with almost zero character development apart from Bankai and fighting power.
The designs of the characters are cool and have unique abilities, but shallow personalities
...
apart from Zaraki and save a few more.
The worst part of Bleach is that in any skirmish, they keep one-upping their opponent and then conveniently tell them how their power works and give away the secret on how their Bankai or power can be defeated. Then rinse and repeat. * FACEPALM * I lose brain cells every time when I see a fight between two characters.
The most hyped battle in TBWY is undoubtedly the Yamamoto vs Yhwach battle, but I cringe when Yamamoto conveniently reveals how his power works and get cut down like pathetic animal.
Watch this at your peril. Lose your brain cells at your risk.
