...then you might like Zegapain add

Both anime are mecha series with a dark mood and an empthasis on the characters piloting the mechs. Unlike NGE however zegapain does suffer from fairly poor visuals and visual direction for it's time. Zegalain does feature one of the most compelling stories you can experience in sci-fi television or film which I would hate to spoil.

If you liked Aria the Animation add

...then you might like Non Non Biyori add

Aria has a very similar calming atmosphere to what you would find in NNB, there are also 2 more seasons and 1 OVA which total to around 50 episodes. Aria has in my opinion one of the best conclusions an anime could have which is absolutely worth getting through fifty episodes for. Avoid binge-watching as it is still largely an episodic series. The pinnacle of SoL anime that deserves more popularity than it has.
