God I HATE how they completely nerfed Asuna to cannon fodder just to make Kirito look better. They ruined the character building that was established in the last movie not only for Asuna but Mito as well. In the last movie, Mito was one of the better characters the series had seen and yet she took a backseat this movie being replaced by Kirito. Asuna for more than half the movie either cries to/for Kirito or praises Kirito and it's absolutely awful. She feels near useless when Kirito isn't there. character? I loved how he had less screen time in the first progressive movie, now you'd be hard pressed to find a scene without him. HE SUCKS!
I guess the animation was pretty good, the Asuna V Mito fight was absolutely gorgeous and I admired some of the weapon designs, especially Mito's scythe. I also enjoy learning more information on Aincrad and how different systems work such as the first drop system after a floor boss is killed. Seeing the "Group of Pkers" that I'm assuming turn into Laughing Coffin in the future was cool as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they released another movie after this where they go up a few more floors, hopefully Kirito isn't there.
Altogether, this movie definitely had its flaws but also some rough gems as well. The plot will always bring me back to this series but the characters are another story. If you're expecting the surprisingly good quality the first Progressive movie showed, you will be disappointed. If someone said they really wanted to watch SAO, I'd tell them to only watch the first progressive movie as it has the best quality out of all SAO series. Sadly, this movie did not live up to expectations.
