there was something about this show that captivated me at first glance. looking back, i still have no idea what that was, but all i can say is, if you're not watching tenten kakumei, you're missing out on a lot.
before you start comparing this to lycoris recoil, i'd like you to get it into your head that the two are vastly different. the story and characters are not as similar as you think, but this is anime review and not a comparison essay, so figure it out yourself. anyways...
to keep the summary short, the story is about a a princess named anisphia, who is crazy
...
about magic, but can't use it herself, and euphyllia, a genius magician whose magic ranks amongst the top. they have a fateful meeting one night, and the two of them cross paths, with euphyllia (euphie) become anisphia's (anis) assistant, and the story goes on from there.
from the get go, the story is set in stone. it gets to the case very quickly, and i don't think i can recall a time when i got bored watching it. i was always looking forward to wednesdays for the next episode.
art style was nailed perfectly. the colors were so vibrant throughout every episode, and the art style was absolutely beautiful. the fight scenes were animated to crisp perfection, and those who saw them know exactly what i'm talking about. the opening and ending were also animated beautifully, both with banger songs.
if there was one thing that made this show stand out the most, it definitely was the character dynamic between anis and euphie. they fit each other perfectly, each and every scene with them was so smooth. with anis being the outgoing, crazy one, while euphie being more laid back and calm, their personalities blend to form colors you could never imagine. not to mention the yuri aspects, but my comment on those: yes. this was definitely the main selling point of the show, and i'm a firm believer that they have some of the best character dynamics i've seen in a long time.
so yeah, tenten kakumei is an easy 10/10 for me. pretty much everything i wanted in show, great pick to start off the year and i hope to see it in the anime awards. now if you excuse me, i'll go buy the LNs real quick...

renai flops is a hidden gem of 2022, and i’m very glad i could end off the year with it. pretty much all of 2022 was crazy, but nothing comes near as crazy as renai flops did it.
the story begins like your typical harem: loner mc meets a bunch of different girls and gets into weird situations with them. then each of the five girls gets an episode to focus on their character and development. what really surprised me was the massive twist they pulled off in the middle of the series. this is what put the series from somewhat crazy to astronomically insane.
they do
...
a little “snap back to reality” moment, where it just happens that asahi was in a VR world the whole time and all the girls were AIs. this show may not be the first to do that, but it was so out of the blue that i couldn’t help but feel addicted. asahi’s and ai’s pasts get revealed, which connects back to the entire story before this. and boy, the backstory almost hit me as hard as engage kiss did back in summer 2022.
one of my favorite elements about this show is the characters. sure, they all have the same tropes you’d see anywhere in any other show, but something seemed different about this one. it really caught on. asahi was actually quite relatable, wanting to escape reality because of the past. all the girls were cute and generally likeable characters. team mongfa for the win.
for the art and music, nothing to say but great. very flashy art and the soundtrack was both relaxing at times and also heated at times. the opening song absolutely slaps, and is my favorite song of the year. can never go wrong with suzuki konomi. the first ending was catchy and fun, perfect to fit the mood for those episodes, before transitioning into the second half, where the second ending takes over. that one felt more meloncholic, and hit pretty hard. props to all the VAs for everything as well.
overall, renai flops is a very enjoyable show if you can just sit back and relax without worrying about small details and tropes. for the end of the year, i can proudly say this is my favorite show of the season. looking forward to winter 2023.

simply put, this is my anime of the year. seriously, nothing tops engage kiss so far within the past 3 seasons. with tsunako's art and maruto's story, it makes engage kiss an amazing watch.
summary: the story begins with shu ogata, a man who fights demons for a living. he runs his own company with kisara, a demon who has a contract with shu. his main goal is to save his little sister, kanna, and progresses through his journey with ayano yuugiri, his ex, sharon holygrail, a nun from the celestial abbey, and other companies and individuals who fight demons.
story: 10/10. there's nothing more to say.
...
we start with a light introduction to the series and a silly love triangle between kisara and ayano, slowly building into the intense part of the story, where a bunch of the characters' backstories and true natures are revealed. props to maruto for an amazing story.
art and animation: 10/10. i already knew the art would be amazing. A-1 doing the animation and tsunako doing the art, it was meant to be. the character designs were amazing, fight scenes were clear and well animated. kiss scenes, everyone knows.
characters: 10/10. we have shu, who looks like someone who couldn't give two shits about anything, but reveals a very tragic backstory later on. kisara, a demon girl who disguises as a human, her backstory just as tragic, and while at first seems to follow shu around to keep him away from other girls, she actually deeply cares for him and will go great lengths to protects him and help him reach his goal. ayano, shu's ex who doesn't know how to let go of him, we never really got her backstory other than the fact that she knew shu from when they were children. sharon, a nun from the celestial abbey who wants to kill kisara, later we learn her reasons. finally we have kanna, shu's little sister who is also half demon.
sound and music: 10/10. opening and ending are S tier songs. the ost's gave me the chills every time they played, especially the one that plays when kisara transforms into her demon form.
enjoyment: do i even need to say? this was the most enjoyable thing i watched since tonikaku kawaii. again, this is my anime of the year. no more need to explain. 10/10.

this review is written as within 3 episode after airing.
mamahaha no tsurego ga motokano datta, or tsurekano for short, was a title that i wasn’t well aware of until a few days before it started airing. i was expecting something a little like oreimo or eromanga sensei for some reason (totally not the incest vibes). but holy shit was i wrong. it came out to be more enjoyable than some of my favorite romcoms.
story: 9.5/10. the premise is set straight and went full dive from the start. i found the comedy very cringy, but it was really funny as well and gave me a good
...
laugh to brighten up my boring days.
art: 10/10. i absolutely dig this art style. props to project no.9 as they made other great shows as well. characters look great, especially yume and mizuto.
sound: 9/10. the voice acting is so good here. some of my favorite seiyuus are voicing characters from this show, and are doing a great job at it. opening and ending songs are banger as well, and really catchy. deneb to spica is in a league of its own though, scoring a 1e103842/10 for how addicting it is.
characters: 10/10. both main and side characters are fun and enjoyable. yume is my favorite character because of her reactions to everything and her personality. mizuto is right behind. he has a similar personality to me, so i can quite relate to him. nonetheless his calm and calculating personality in contrast with yume’s extroverted and outgoing personality is a great mix.
enjoyment: 3^1029233/10. i should definitely not be enjoying this as much as i am, but this show is just too addicting. i just feel like i’m being gently transported to elysium as i watch this. wait, what am i saying…
overall: 10/10. absolutely no doubts here, and nothing could change my mind. this show is overall one of the best of the year and anyone who hasn’t watched it should check it out.
