Both shows: * Have a main character trying to fix a timeline to save someone * Are story driven * Have an organic MC with whom you go through the motions * Flip the script at some point Is that not enough?

Both shows work with apparitions and unfolding the mystery behind them in order to defeat them. They both tackle a short arc format and have a very experimental art style, both in their own unique ways. Both shows are dialogue heavy with Mononoke getting a little more on the detective side of things. Mononoke doesn't bother breastfeeding you any clues meaning you have to give it your full attention.

Both shows are over the top in both story and style. The similarities in their stories are felt throughout the show from their ridiculousness, many layers, superlatives and even the pacing with a double cour-take. Both shows are from the same writer. If you like one you'll almost guaranteed like the other.

Both shows take romance as their focal point with similar twists: Insomniacs After School creating a nightlife as a result of insomnia and Call of The Night creating a nightlife as a result of boredom and curiosity. Both shows also show a broader world being opened before them after getting to know the heroine. If you liked either show's artwork you'll like the other as they're from the same studio.
