*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS AND LONG OPINIONS.*
I'm not entirely sure as to why I chose this manga to review instead of an actually good one.
Story - 4.
I wouldn't say that this manga is an entire cliche, but I would say that it is all over the place and disorganized. There's also unnecessary drama (yes, BL is filled to the brim with it, but this BL is filled with it and more). At one minute, Yumeji is talking to his bisexual posse (I wouldn't be surprised if they had matching jackets with huge un-ironic dongs on them). At another minute, Seiji is telling Yumeji that he
...
loves him and proceeds to kissing him without Yumeji's consent (they've literally only met one time and it was because Seiji beat up Yumeji's very promiscuous friend for sleeping with his sister). The next day, Seiji gives Yumeji a BJ, calling him his boyfriend, even when Yumeji didn't approve/say yes.
Yes, a BJ. To a guy who wasn't willing and in the nurse's room on a bed. What's going on? I didn't ask for a one-shot.
This isn't even the worst part. What's worse is Maru (I think his name is, he's glasses guy) is in love with Yumeji's promiscuous friend, Mu. (What a variety of names, am I right?) Weren't we just talking about Yumeji, his not-really boyfriend, and how they have absolutely no chemistry with each other, yet still continue to get jealous over each other's friends and make each other scared? I believe I'm getting into more of the character category, so I'll continue there.
Some more (unnecessary/cliche/uninteresting) events go down like Yumeji telling Seiji not to talk to his ex-girlfriend because he's super jealous, Yumeji gets depressed and avoids Seiji for being mean to him once, Yumeji tries to force himself to love Seiji because Seiji is the only one who can give him boners, etc etc, boring, snore, goodnight.
TLDR; I want this Crazy Yaoi Train I didn't even pay for to stop. Like, right now. I'll jump off if I have to. Don't test me.
Art - 8.
The art is quite possibly the best thing about this manga. Everyone has nice hair, nice proportions, and cute chibi forms of themselves. The porn is even uncensored. What's not to love about that? Well, too bad the story/characters weren't as great as the art.
Characters - 4.
I think the only character I really liked was Yumeji. Let's start with him.
- Yumeji: The golden gir- I mean, dude. He's bisexual, like everyone else. He can't get his little friend up because of a traumatizing event (which was just a girl saying that he has no talent in bed, but what do you expect, he was a virgin). Everyone dreams of him having formal good looks and stoicism, when in truth, he's a small, cute kid in a tall, model-like man body. This somehow attracts Seiji at first glance.
- Seiji: The big douche. He's Yumeji's kouhai and that one dude on the playground with the most friends but no "best" friends. Why? He's ice on the surface, and ice inside too. Personally, I'd tap that -- but only if he closed his mouth for 50+ years. He seems to specialize in
- Maru: The biggest douche. In the beginning, Maru looks like a cool guy. He's smart, helpful (looking at you, Yumeji), and somewhat like that big brother everyone wants. This is all true -- except he's a huge elitist and abuser. How? Well, like I mentioned before, he loves Mu. He loves to call him "dirty" and a "slut" without having any regards whatsoever for Mu, who was actually raped as a kid. At some point, Mu asks Maru to have sex with him, because he loves him too. How does Muri react to this? Well, Maru calls his disgusting, skips foreplay and just sticks it to the man (literally), telling Mu to "scream like a virgin". Sounds like a decent guy, doesn't he?
- Mu: The super bisexual. Mu is actually a pretty okay dude. He isn't a clueless pushover like Yumeji, a tantrum-throwing baby like Seiji, or a 50 Shades of Grey-esque (but ten times worse) sadist like Maru. He likes sex and isn't ashamed of it. He's optimistic, cute, and tries to make the best of things. For Christ's sake, after Maru made his hole bleed, he didn't blame Maru. He says, "This is sex... with love, right?" and "I was... looking forward to it. But even if it hurts, I'll make up for it with love..." Mu doesn't belong in this shit manga. He belongs in a warm blanket, preferably with a cup of his favorite drink and a person who actually loves him and will treat him right.
Everyone else is either uninteresting, minor, or simply not worth mentioning at all.
Enjoyment - 2.
I cringed and questioned actions/sayings so many times. Why did the mangaka think, "Ah, yes, a manga about bisexual people doing bisexual things while being abusive, scary, unrealistic, unnatural, and devoid of empathy. This is good"? It's not good. It's not even okay or average. It's just abuse, manipulation, and shaming in the guise of "uguu shy sugoi 'but we're boys' senpai and short tsundere bad boi kouhai make sexi time 4ever x3".
Overall - 3.
If you like moderately okay yaoi, this is not the manga for you, I promise. Turn away now before it's too late.
If you like really bad yaoi that once read, everyone will question your morals and senses, this is the manga for you. Also, pray afterwards to clear your soul from sins.
