Note, this review contains spoilers…
You have been warned.
Where do we even begin with this one… Oh yeah, this anime is more of an ecchi than anything else Imo. That aside, the real issue lies in the way this anime was constructed. You get this bizarre pairing of female model and cosplayer Kitagawa and an introverted hina doll maker in Gojou. There is nothing wrong with having a pairing of this nature as a relationship between a nobody guy and everybody’s wet dream girl can happen from time-to-time irl, but the way this one is executed is just ridiculous. This “romance” is EXTREMELY uneventful,

and it took 12 episodes, I REPEAT 12 for Kitagawa to tell Gojou she loved him over the phone WHILE he was asleep. Mind you it was somewhere in episode 6 that she realized she “loved him.” For all that “poise and confidence” she supposedly possessed she sure struggled to get those words off her chest, unlike literally ANY article of clothing she had to remove in front of Gojou. Somehow she manages to be a blend of “if you kiss me I’ll get pregnant” and “Ara Ara.” As for the plot, it circles around Kitagawa wanting to do more cosplay and Gojou making her latest outfit come true. Episodes that focus around other side characters are not worth mentioning as they don’t add much to the story, just waste time and ensure a lack of development. Now we shall take a step back and look at my rating which is a GENEROUS 5. Why is it a 5 you ask? Simply put, I believe a majority “romance” anime are in fact poorly executed making this poorly executed anime: AVERAGE. Yes, I said it, unfortunately average is simply not very good, but fear not as this only applies to anime… I think… Anyway, it has some good visuals and doesn’t completely make me want to vomit like other things I’ve seen… Yes I am looking at you true tears. Nonetheless, there is about as much progress made in this anime as there has been on global warming the past two decades. Thus, this is a 5. Sue me. Back to the characters and the lack of development. Gojou has the spine of a jellyfish but that is expected given his character but he is still bland af and that is unacceptable. There is one episode though where he “rises to the occasion” quite literally at a love hotel, A LOVE HOTEL. Granted they were there for cosplay purposes but even after pitching a tent with a girl sitting on him, the writers somehow manage to sweep all that under the rug just when you think you might finally be getting somewhere. Past that, there are other useless female side characters that ensure no meaningful progress is made between Gojou and Kitagawa which hurts this anime even more given this is supposed to be a romance after all, not some harem. All in all, nothing too noteworthy transpired and if you only really care for visuals, you may find this an 8+ as this will definitely cater to your liking. If however you’d like a more meaningful plot and some substance on the development front, look elsewhere as you are going to be disappointed.
