- both have a rough start between the main characters; - both have a girl with a supernatural ability, which turns out to be pretty useful; - both have a main male lead with a tragic past that made him somehow distance himself from emotions; - the main female characters are alike; so do the male ones; - the romance, as in how it develops gradually, is similar; - .. and so much more. Bottom line.. if you liked one of these two, there's a very high chance you'll enjoy the other one too.

Similar feeling to it (high stakes games), though, for the main character - my vote goes to Bak.

Just similar... Popular boy protects (innocent/ frank) girl who (at first) has no interest in romance, but eventually falls in love with the main protagonist.

Both main characters are somewhat fictional in the world that the action is taking place, deal with swords and increasing inner strength/ skill. Also, in both shows the art and sound are great.

Both have a female lead who gives the main (male) character a special ability to fight. Both have great fighting scenes. Both have mecha elements.

Same romantic feeling floating in the air, same "hard to get to" main character, refreshing pace when it comes to the story, utterly alike art... and... an ending that can stand alone and it's enough as it is (without a sequel).

Saber is a lot like Clare. Both animes have action, a female main character which fights with a sword and protects a boy... and so on....
