The story starts off in a very slow pace beginning with the first episode. It starts out a little confusing in the first episode because there was no dialogue for a while so I couldn't understand what was going on. The visual appeal of the art and animation is what got my attention and thats why I continued to watch it past the first episode. The art and animation kind of "told" me what was happening.

The story automatically reminded me of Battle Angel and Terminator. This anime's story blends in the plot of both plus a helping of the ... Yakuza(mafia) element. If you have watched and comprehend both Battle Angel and Terminator, the story would not be hard to understand because it shares similar premise.

The first half of the series is pretty much a bloodbath. In almost every episode there is a mob boss and his gang who got whacked. I pretty much lost track of which mob boss got killed by which boss by mid series. The second half of the series explains why the "Class" was turning the mafia against each other and Organo (the big prosthetic company) and why they are trying to use cybernetics to take over the world.

The animation was pretty good, however, in the intense fights and amputations, alot of the sequences were repeated in multiple episodes. I can't really blame the artist because animation is a long and expensive process so it is very difficult to make it complex.
Overall, the bodily movements are smooth.

The sound is adequate but what was odd is that the guns sound the same no matter the type of caliber. If a gun nut watches this they might mark a minus on the score but I won't.
However, the sync between the movement of the lips and dialogue doesn't always go smoothly. Its a little awkward.

The characters are an enigma and each are quite disturbing especially Doc and her brother (the head honcho of the "Class").

Ichise, he is a mystery. At first he is one psycho, who would knock out anybody who looks at him especially after he got his prosthetics. He thinks of himself as freak of nature. Then he becomes quiet and loyal to his boss (Keigo Onishi) who adopts him into his group.
He later befriends Ran, the mysterious girl who is also a prophet.

Keigo Onishi is probably, the only sane character in the story. He is like a rock. He wants order and stability. Violence is a last resort. Negotiation is his choice of weapon.


Overall, I enjoyed the anime but mostly because of the art and animation. The story is average. I have watched and read other medias with similar stories to draw conclusions before the end of the series.

This anime is the most unique one of all the animes I have seen so far.

The story is divided up into files. Each file takes about 2~4 episodes and they all differ in terms of the nature of the hauntings and type of spirits.

The pacing of the story is slow but it still grabs my attention. I still want to know more, I want to know what the team is dealing with and how they are going to get rid of the spirits that is haunting the particular person(s) or group.

The main thing that is odd about this show ... is the timing and occurrence of the light-hearted moments. There are times when the scene is really tense and is suspenseful and then all of a sudden the characters go into comedic facial gestures and verbal sparring. Sometimes, it ruins the moment but it is forgivable.

What I really credit this show is that it steers away from the religious biases between the different type of exorcists. There is a Catholic priest, a Shinto Priestess, a Buddist Priest, and a spiritual medium. Of course, it is for the show that they do this but still, there is no religious conflict between them. I like that.

The characters start out cold but then they warm up to each other and become like family.

This is one of my favorite anime series that I have watched. This isn't really a review but more like a very short summary. The show is just so fun to watch. You just have to watch it. Every episode is really interesting and it makes me wonder what the next episode will showcase.

The story is clean, makes you wonder about the historical nature of the paintings and other works of art. Its just wonderful. I actually read about some of the paintings and their painters after I watched the series. I learned alot from my ... own readings on the items shown in the anime.

This show also gives me the chuckles because of the personality of the characters. Fujita and his assistant Sara are so fun to watch. Their verbal sparring is clean and light hearted.

Sara's personality is pretty cute. Fujita seems like a typical money hungry art-dealer but he really loves what he does and he will do anything to help the people that needs it.

Fujita's nemesis Mitamura becomes a very likable and caring character as the story progresses.

I love the music used throughout the anime especially during the revealing moments. The story and music fit like a glove.

This show was not a flop nor a good one.

I have a high tolerance for the violent imagery portrayed in manga and in anime so it doesn't bother me. This anime didn't make my stomach churn nor make me turn away from the screen but its just that the violence over takes the story telling. The blood aspect is moot because its the main part of the story so no arguments there.

Now, I haven't read the manga so I don't know if the story of the anime faithfully follows it.

However, from the perspective of somebody who hasn't ... read this manga, the anime falls flat in story telling. It didn't grab my attention. I just didn't have the urge to wonder what will happen in the subsequent episodes. In my opinion, this story's concept is nothing new. An innocent guy sent to jail on trumped up charges, an evil conspirator hiding the true motive of his organization (Deadman Wonderland) that is doing sick science experiments, an underground movement hoping to bust out of the hell-hole, and finally, everybody has a part of them that is really twisted and disturbed. Really, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. From what I understand the anime ends right around the end of chapter 21 of the manga. I might go ahead and read starting from that but I don't expect much.

One thing I really liked is the music and sounds in the intro and in the fight sequences between Ganta and the villains.

The characters are pretty much set in stone. Ganta changes a bit, he "finds" himself and puts up a fight. He is a character I liked though. He quickly mans up unlike the typical male protagonists from most anime series who cry and bitch (e.g. Kaido from Blue Gender)
