there's just something about this donghua i really liked.

the story. it's not that special honestly. just two guys solving a mystery. the flashbacks were really interesting to me. the plot relies heavily on it. the humour is pretty good.

the art. i love it. im a huge fan of the style of art here. its so pretty.

sound. i have no comments. its fine. (the music is really good tho i love the theme songs)

the characters. i think this is what clicked for me. i loved the characters. they're pretty generic. very donghua character-esque lol. hot (temper and looks lmao) character and cool (temper ... and looks as well) character combo. but there was just something about them. the combination of the art and story really made these characters some of my favourites. i liked the "antagonist" a lot. the side characters are just there for the main characters which are red head, long hair and "bad guy". some are better than others. you can tell who's there as comedic relief more often than not. they were cool and enjoyable overall.

an expansion on the two mcs relationship as what i like to call hot/cool character combo: hot characters are more fiery and comedic. cool characters are more sharp in a calm manner (or calm in a peaceful manner) and collected. doesn't mean hot characters are stupid or less smart than cool characters. cool characters are just more composed, hot characters are quicker though.

what i didn't like. too short? not in a "omg it was soooo good i need more" way but in a "why is this so rushed" way. it's fast. that last episode? did not feel real. why was it so fast. it felt like 2 seconds.

best parts. the bromance. i feel like people are gonna assume i mean it's a psuedo-gay thing but no i mean like bromance as in close guy friends. yes, there is gay undertones (it's based off a preist novel hello you should've seen that coming) but the bromances red head has with the side characters is pretty sweet too.

conclusion. i mean i enjoyed it lmao. i really came into this with no idea of what any of this was. i knew it was a preist novel adaptation (thought i've never read the novel) but the synopsis on here made no sense so i went in blind. i recommend it if you're looking for something that doesn't make you think too hard. this needs a season 2 so it can feel completed and also because i need a season 2 lol it was good.
