I watched the first episode and then promptly read the entire manga in one sitting before coming back and finishing the anime.
This is a really special story. The animation is cute but the magic is the characters and the chemistry. I love stories that highlight all kinds of relationships and love. Akame finds a wonderful group of friends through online gaming and you get to see her grow and flourish with their support.
I love slow burn romance and yearning. Akame and Yamada start out as strangers, become friends, and fall in love. You get to watch them navigate life together with minimal misunderstandings

and drama. It's a breath of fresh air.
I definitely suggest giving this anime a chance. It's a little slow but there's charm to it. Check out the manga if you are a gremlin like me and need to binge media. Loving Yamada-kun is worth your time. The butterflies and healthy communication is to die for.
I would have scored it hire but the animation and pacing are it's weak points. Sometimes the mouths weren't animated when they talked and often their eyes weren't drawn if they were in big groups. As for the pacing, I like slow burn but I did wish the confession wasn't pushed off until the last episode. Still, it was very enjoyable! The manga is definitely one of my favorites!
