Both are heavily political stories with a diverse cast of characters set in a 19th century-esque era, but still mantain an overall lighthearted and positive tone. The lore on both shows is very heavy and lots of plot points are revealed gradually, in the end forming a bigger picture of the conflict and giving us way more nuance on issues that were presented in a simple manner at the beginning. The characters of Loran Cehack and Edward Elric not only share the same seiyuu, but also a moral compass and a overall good natured personality. Both also display a big sense of loyalty, Loran towards Queen Dianna and Edward towards his brother Alphonse, which is present from the beginning to the very end of both shows. The female characters are also very good and well-written, like Winry Rockbell, Riza Hawkeye and Izumi Curtis on FMA:B's side and Dianna Soreil, Sochie Heim and Kihel Heim on Turn A Gundam's side. FMA:B is a bit more comedic and shounen-esque while Turn A Gundam can be more slow-paced and contemplative at times, which can be either a plus or a nono depending on your taste. One is digitally animated while the other is one of the last cel animated productions for TV, but both are generally well produced and have some great sequences. While Turn A is part of a bigger franchise that is Gundam, it's not required to having watched any other installment before diving into this series, and FMA:B is a self-contained story based mostly on its manga source.
