Black Lagoon is by far one of the best animes I've seen in a while. It's a perfect blend of action/thriller and heavy drama. Every episode of this series is like a mission split into a number of parts. Well, it's needless to say that black lagoon doesn't focus on a main plot. For example, it's not about saving the world or becoming the greatest gunslinger there ever existed. No, this anime is about a group of mercenaries that take on odd jobs in a city filled with crime, where the weak are punished and the strong still survive.
None the less, the sets of ... stories given, which are most likely another mission, are always epic and give you something to look forward to. However, the lack of a main plot and part by part story telling will set an erratic pace leaving some episodes slow to start. Don't worry though every episode is worth while and the impending action will have you hooked in no time.
The art and sound blend well in this series. The sometimes hardcore action scenes are well animated and mostly not stiff. The songs accentuate the various situations the characters are presented. So I found nothing wrong with it. The series was great for the eyes and ears.
Now, the character development is what you should really look out for in BL. This is where the show truly shines gold and glimmering colors. I mean the characters are absolutely fantastic. They are all presented in a way that you want to sympathize for each character. Even if one of those characters don't make much screen time, you know that he is still a valuable member of this fine act. As I said, each mission device is a part by part episode. Each sheds light on small bits and piece of each characters past, personality, and opinion. Sooner of later you'll want to know more. Revy's history, rocks change for the better or worse, Dutch's eccentricity, and Benny....well just Benny for now. But there is so much to look forward to for the characters in BL.
The overall enjoyment is a 10/10. As you watch this show you'll start to love each and every character that you come across and I assure you it's helluva ride.

It could have been something decent, but instead Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi reeks of mediocrity. The art work and animation was actually pretty and appealing, but the terrible story and cast of characters makes this series a pretty little scab you want to tear off. The rag tag bunch of characters have a very minor development and role so it'll feel as if most, if not all, of the characters are a side note. Even the story leaves you hanging till the last episode. At the end of the series, you will ask yourself, "That's it? What the hell was I watching this for?". ... I'm sorry to say this, but I felt as if the writer of the series did a half-assed job and produced a story about kids doing random things without any plot or motive. I say this series was a wild goose chase. I recommend it to those of you who have nothing to do and just want to kill time.

If you are a sucker for life changing stories, then this is the perfect anime for you. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is one those rare mecha anime gems that may be over looked by many people due to its mecha genre. When I hear the word mecha, I think of gundam and its epic space battles. However, its plagued with mundane talks of politics and other nonsensical subjects that may drive some viewers insane. TTGL is different. It is an adrenaline pumped, tear jerking, and hilarious master piece that should be watched even if you hate mecha. It gets into a some politics, but its ... values are very simple to understand. Most episodes are a blend of epic robo battles and light-hearted comedies, but don't misunderstand. This anime has tear jerking moments that will keep you hooked for the rest of the ride. Don't worry, these tear jerking moments aren't one of those weird squeamish moments you find yourself in when watching anime, but more practical and understandable. Also, the character and story development is one of the best I've ever seen. Some lines said by characters and story situations may seem like a parody because of its sheer ridiculousness, but this is the charm of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan. I forgot to mention that the animation in this series is top class it is smooth. It's funny ,epic, and heart warming till the very end. A must watch for all you non-anime and anime lovers viewers alike.
