Isekai and cooking manga in perfect balance, complimenting and driving each other. I would say this manga leans slightly more into comedy and slice-of-life than any other genre, but it's most certainly an adventure isekai. There's interesting encounters with various monsters, colorful characters, and new magic. The most isekai thing about this manga is how the characters are often shocked at how OP the MC is. This, however, is not overdone, as the protagonist actively avoids drawing attention. If you want a fun isekai adventure with likable characters, this would do the trick. It manages to avoid being generic by having the motivations and skills of

This is an ecchi harem manga, first and foremost. It frequently and inevitably abandons any kind of lore, story, character, or even genre enjoyment by lunging headlong into T&A shots. I don't really mind ecchi manga and anime, they have their place, but this feels like an isekai manga that constantly forgets that it's an isekai. All momentum gets constantly interrupted with hamfisted butt shots. This manga goes to amazing lengths to show female characters in revealing and exploitative situations. I realize "exploitative" is a bit of a strong word, but it really feels like the mangaka took the shortest path to reach ecchi, and

It's an isekai, but it starts out like a wilderness survival manga. This manga takes its time to examine the world and build it up more than almost all other isekai. Grimgar is the only one that's done it better.
There's nothing that makes it special, it's just well done. It lets the world breath and you get to enjoy the, so far, casual adventure in a fantasy world. If I had to say one bad thing about it, it's that despite the manga taking a somewhat more realistic approach, the MC is still a little OP. That's pretty standard for isekai, though, and it's still ... Nov 18, 2021
Generic with a capital "G." The enemies are so boring and you start to lose interest in all of the characters eventually. The only redeeming feature is that it's a somewhat okay power fantasy because there are impressive displays of magic and the art isn't bad.
Everything begins and ends with the protagonist gaining power. Everything in the story, what little there is, is to literally and figuratively feed his power. The writer seems to realize this towards chapter 37, and justifies it by literally making the MC say "I'm different because I have friends to stop me", but by this time I had no interest ... The first thing I'll say about the manga is that it gets better as it goes on. I wouldn't trust a review of this that says it's a "generic isekai manga."
What I would describe this manga as, more accurately, is a scifi manga with a meta commentary on fantasy and isekai. That probably sounds like some cork-sniffer explanation of why I like this seemingly generic isekai manga, but I think it's more accurate than some synopsis'. The first chapter starts out pretty typically for isekai stories, a class is transported to a fantasy world. From there, until about chapter 10, it's still possible to mistake ... |
