Season 1 was very well done. While this series is a romance, it was mainly on the back burner and allowed us to watch Tara navigate her new world and grow as a person. It's a slooww burn, which is not everyone's cup of tea. It was nice to see her fail and struggle but be able to overcome her hurdles through genuine effort. It was also nice to see her lose her weight in a more realistic manner (rather than it being magicked away) and see her physically get stronger as a result. Season 1 wasn't perfect, but it was such an entertaining read.

Season ... 2 fell so flat in comparison. The series has done a complete 180 and focused solely on romance. As someone put it, it's become a typical CEO/secretary romance. Tara's character also suffers greatly and she is no longer a strong fl, as cliche as it may be to say. The larger plot of Tara working to save her family is largely forgotten and there's no sense of urgency behind her actions anymore. It feels like the story continues because it has to, not because Tara fears her and her family's deaths. Most of the secondary characters are completely sidelined as well. It was a frustrating read overall, especially with the random inclusion of aura over 100 chaps in.

It's also important to note that the reason for season 2's abrupt ending is that the artist's health was failing and that there will be a new artist for season 3. The steep decline of the art is extremely obvious, especially when they would show flashbacks from the beginning. It was a detailed style, so it's understandable that it would become simplified as time went on, but there was an overreliance on 3D models and everything became extremely flat. It's sad to see and I wish the artist a speedy recovery. But the cum brush for rain was really funny.

I hope that season 3 will show a return to form and bring back some of the politics and charm that season 2 was sorely lacking. As it stands now, I'm hesitant to recommend due to season 2.
